Olek the Blessed

Being a youth of young and healthy mind and body, Olek has always enjoyed the outdoors. When not busy with his chores, he would often sit outside on a rock or in a tree. He loves nature and if there is a chance to swim or climb, he will be first to do so.

At night Olek would sit outside to wonder at the stars. Often to the annoyance of his teachers, Olek would prefer to sit outside and have his lessons by an open fire with the multitude of stars looking down upon them. As he read in a books once: "...they are like all the souls that cameth before, who gazes upon the world. If one would but gaze back they might be so blessed as to be imparted some of the wisdom shining down..."

Olek has always felt that the answers are not in books, but in the very soil he would bury his toes into. Wisdom does not only come from scholars in temples, but the farmer plowing his fields. Wisdom does not sit in some construct of marble but from the miasma that is the forests and oceans.

Nature holds so many answers, one only has to look. As beautiful and bountiful as nature can be, it can also be cruel and cold. Underneath lies a viciousness that is yet to be exposed...

Why Am I Olek?

Not at all surprised by the girls reply, Olek knows that he has always been a free spirit. What bothers him the most is the fact that despite having a free spirit we are all bound by this society and its demands on us.

Olek might be a free spirit, but as a being of flesh and bone he will always be chained to what others need and what society expects of him.

He wonders if this same need for social acceptability is also present in the nature around him...

Reflections on your father

My experience of my father has not been that much. In a way this has been my own fault as well. Often off working and campaigning he did not have much time for his family.
When he was at home I often spent my time outside, willfully ignoring him in an attempt to spite him. This only ended up myself and not my father.
As to the character of my father, I have always found him stern and unapproachable. A rough man, that carried the weight of the world on his shoulders. Back then I did not understand it, but now I am starting to see it. We have always been well cared for and I never went to bed hungry. I see now that this is more than most people have of this world.
My father has proven just that again. If you are willing to fight for what you want and you work hard at it, then you will come out on top. It does not help to wait for a savior to come and lift you out of your misery... you need to look after your own.
Fortune favors the bold and nature rewards the strong. I will be strong. I will root out the weakness, just as my father did!
