KN,
This is the one group of illegal aliens I absolutely think should be allowed to stay. Furthermore, they should get immediate citizenship. I say that because they had no choice in coming here. Their parents brought them when they were to young to protest. Holding them accountable would be like putting a child in jail because mom had her in a car seat when she robbed a bank. These kids are more American than they are anything else… some barely speak their childhood language and virtually all of them don't remember their nation of birth, only the US.
Trump's crackdown on 'sanctuary cities' blocked nationwide by federal judge. A federal judge in Chicago late Friday issued a nationwide injunction against the Trump administration's effort to crack down on sanctuary cities. District Judge Harry Leinenweber sided with city officials who argued that penalizing cities for protecting undocumented immigrants was unlawful and unconstitutional. He made his ruling national in scope because there is "No reason to think that the legal issues present in this case are restricted to Chicago or that the statutory authority given to the attorney general would differ in another jurisdiction." Ref. CNN.
Goodness, I love and hate our legal system. So what the pro illegal immigrant side is doing is finding the most liberal jurisdictions to have their cases heard, knowing the judges will side with their very weak arguments. When this ruling gets to the Supreme Court it'll be overturned.
In victory for Trump, Supreme Court dismisses travel ban case. "We express no view on the merits," the court said in a one-page decision. The court essentially agreed Trump's new, permanent travel ban made the objections to the earlier ban moot. The decision effectively wipes the record clean, meaning that opponents of the travel ban now must argue their case based on Trump's new proclamation. Ref. USAToday.
He was picked out as being racist (Not the right word technically, but we don't really have a good one for it) because he kept calling it a ban on Muslims. Not stricter immigration on specific troublesome countries, a ban on Muslims.
He kept calling it this even when his original proposals were denied as illegal and he kept shifting things until it actually fit the limits.
I'm inclined to believe that this was a show, something to keep his rabid fans invested. But the other obvious interpretation, and the one many people calling him out for seem to have taken, is that a ban on Muslims is what he actually wants, and this is the closest thing to it that the law will let him get.
