Velon sees himself in the mirror and his mood improves dramatically. It reminds him of the times he has put in far more effort than he normally would to clean himself up for Lia, and Perry did a much better job than he ever has. He turns and grins at Lia, pointing at his face and beard, at least partially in jest. He then turns and stairs at the door once more with exaggerated pride, flicking his head a bit to to make his hair move. He only turns ever so slightly and winks at Perry, adding "Thank you, let's do this far more often, shall we?" via his message spell.

Out of Character: . Wait, "Liberal?" I am insulted on Velon's behalf! wink.gif.

Soon enough, the group is on the ground, and making their way towards the holdfast. The guards certainly seem to appreciate the disarming, though are less comfortable with the sheer number of people coming in. But soon enough they escort the group towards the graceful structure at the center of this place.

At the base of it, the group is ushered through an archway leading within. It appears to be made of mithril, and embedded crystals seem to flicker. There is a definite feel of magic in the air around the arch, and the observant among the group might notice that several of the guards watch the crystals intently as you pass through.

A seemingly endless series of steps follow, as the group ascends. But the ascent feels… buoying somehow, as if one could keep climbing forever without fatigue. A few minutes of this passes, and then you step out onto a large open platform, far above the ground. It appears to serve as a courtyard. Several comfortable looking chairs are scattered about, along with a wide variety of flowering plants. A young woman plays a soft melody on a high harp to the side, another seems to be occupied with feeding songbirds nearby.

King Melendrach himself is dressed in simple, though fine, green robes, a delicate crown of mithril and sapphires adorns his head. He is seated at a small table, and reading from a thick tome while making notes. As the group approaches, he sets both aside and looks to you all.

"The Silver Blaze has come to the High Forest it seems, and has urgent things to discuss. I presume that means you suspect that the cult is up to something in our domain? I would hear of this."

Before the group meets the King:

Poljen frowns at Velon. He shakes his head. "Fine! I give my word I will start no trouble, or even speak unless spoken to. That said, if he is rude to us, I will be rude in return." He appears to be about to say more, but then changes his mind and gestures for them to go forward. But it is obvious he is slightly insulted.

Upon meeting the King:

Poljen says nothing and looks to Velon to speak.

Velon's response to Poljen is simple. "Then your 'promise' means nothing, if you are still so eager to exchange insults. It is good to know that you care so little about what Lia and I think is best, or the safety of us all, and put your pride above all else. I am quite disappointed that nothing has changed in that regard despite all of our time together. Our greatest warrior and defender cannot be trusted not to insult our allies if their tone is not to his liking today." He adds firmly, "You should stay here."

------

As they approach the King, Velon looks to Lia at his side and urges her to speak first with a slight nod of his head. He has little experience with these things, and would rather follow her lead, at least as far as manners and introductions go to start.

Lia winks at Velon as she runs her hand through her Raven locks in response to his new appearance.

As they approach the King she has a look of reverence on her face. She steps forward at Velon's nod. Lia sways her hips a little more than normal. She is hoping to use a little flirtation to improve the way the King views the group." Sire, thank you for hearing us out. We truly are honored to meet you. I am Lia Galanodal of Silvahil in your realm. I am but a humble servant of my lady Sune. My Lord, our leader is the great Velon Roodal, Favored of Bahamat." She nods to the paladin. Lia then nods at Poljen." This is Poljen, last and greatest of the snow leopards and a Slayer of dragons."

Looking at Mari she grins." This friend of mine is Mari Chandler, the knife in the dark." Lia then glances at Taz." This Noble friend is Tazskan Daardendrien. He is a valiant friend who ever is true in our fight for the Realms." Last but certainly not least is Penelope Pennington, the bard of bards. What she doesn't know isn't worth knowing. "

Lia steps back and smiles at the King." Now that the introductions are over… Velon… "She bows to the king and backs up to the others.

"Greetings, great King Melendrach." Velon gives a bow, only slightly with his upper body but more pronounced with his head. "It is an honor to meet you. First and foremost, we beg your forgiveness for our intrusion into your lands, and without any warning at that. We hoped to tell you our tale before your judgement of us, so we are most fortunate that you seem willing to listen."

He continues. "Great King, before we start, I wanted to tell you that some important aspects of the tale might be of a… sensitive nature; quite personal even. I tell you this such that you may choose your audience for such matters as you see fit."

Velon pauses to look around at how many elves may be listening, and to give the King a chance to respond. After this he continues.

"If you will forgive me, great King, I have no talent for this sort of thing, and would not burden your ears with my voice for too long. Perhaps I may let others among us more suited to the task tell you what has occurred."

At that, Velon turns to see who will step forward to tell the tale. They have a bard familiar with such things, of course, and a brave champion who is no stranger to telling the tale of the Blaze to even the leaders of giants. He was hoping to include as many of the party as possible, as he is uncomfortable with any notion that only he deserves to speak here.

Penelope steps forward, bows respectfully, and begins telling the story, "Your Highness, you have no doubt heard of the green terror that has plagued your kingdom and slain many of your people. But before we get to the dragon, let us work our way back a bit. Several days ago, the Silver Blaze captured and interrogated a relatively high ranking member of the Cult of the Dragon, and we received some interesting information about the owner of a powerful artifact that could be used in some manner to bring the evil dragon goddess Tiamat into our plane of existence. We learned that the owner of this artifact was none other than your son, Prince Neronvain. To make matters worse, we learned that he had allied himself with the green terror herself, Chuth, an adult green dragon."

Penelope pauses for a moment as people gasp, "Yes, it's quite alarming I'm sure, but he was indeed working with the Cult of the Dragon. Now, as you can imagine, we immediately came to the forest to investigate and eventually found our way to the dragon's lair. We sent in our most elite stealth unit and they managed to steal the artifact, but not without alerting and provoking the dragon. That's when we first saw with our own eyes your son working and fighting together with the dragon. He was wielding a two-handed courtblade and was clearly trained in elven wizard techniques that involved a singing blade. After a short battle, we made the decision to retreat because securing the artifact was more important than slaying the dragon. We couldn't afford to lose and have the artifact end up back in the cult's hands. So we made the difficult choice and teleported out of the dragon's lair and back to safety."

Penelope continues, "We promised to return and deal with Chuth and your son after we secured a safer location to hold the artifact. In the meantime, we knew that she would take out her anger on more of your people." Penelope grimaces and shares a brief glance at Lia before continuing, "When we arrived back to the cavern, we learned that Chuth and Neronvain had taken roughly thirty or so elf children hostage from some of the villages around the area. This time, we faced her and Neronvain directly in a long and terrifying battle. Regrettably, we were not able to save all of the children, but we did somehow manage to save many of them."

Penelope looks to the King with determination in her eyes and boldly states, "Your Highness, Prince Neronvain was a traitor to his own people and to everyone in the entire realm! He, along with the monster Chuth, committed what can only be described as genocide. We witnessed elven children morphed into soulless undead… There are no words that can adequately describe such despicable evil, King Melendrach. Now I don't know what the history is between you and your son, but I what I will tell you is this. Your son is dead. We killed both him and the green dragon Chuth. We have his remains if you wish to see them. They, along with the elf children we rescued, are being kept in our stronghold above."

With that, the bard steps back and waits for what the King has to say to all of this.

Lia's eyes widen slightly as Penelope finishes her tale. She prays fervently to Sune to aid them. It is all on the table and there is no going back now. She watches the elven king for a sign of how he is going to receive this tragic news.
