Sylmae smiles at Lawrance's enthusiasm. She says, "I don't know if I have any talent for the magic you wield, though I would not be adverse to trying. What my mother taught me was… different. Here, can I show you?" If he consents, she reaches out and takes his hand. Slowly warming it with her own slim hands, she closes her eyes and seems to focus.
At first nothing happens, but then a faint sensation of warmth steals up the wizard's arm. He slowly begins to feel a sensation of contentment and happiness. The feelings are not overwhelming by any stretch. It is obviously her doing, but she did not cast a spell, not so much as a word or a gesture.
"All beings with a soul bear a connection to each other. A dreamweaver can use that to some interesting effects. A little tweaking of emotional states is about the extent of what I was taught to safely do, but my mother used to tell my brother and I stories from within a shared dream, shaping it to show what she spoke of."
"Forget about scrying, already tried twice, and was reminded about using a password from a feline character," Tazskans says.
"Very, impressive, and powerful, deffences I might add. You have at least 50 cultist mages who still cannot even get in through the front door," Tazskan adds.
"The slain young blue dragon, dead on the grounds, I wonder who sent it"? He adds.
"For someone who seems to have drawn so much attention. Perhaps there lies a mask within,"?
"It appears, these cultists, still haven't found the back door yet," Tazskan adds.
"The familiars, could scout the perimeter of this area. See what we are dealing with. Only, if there was some way of informing the illusionist that we are on his side,"? He adds.
Cratol speaks up. "If he/she is able to keep them out then they already know we are here. Maybe showing them a symbol of good and right can sway them to contact us in a friendly way. Why can we not show a symbol of Bahmut to them or the goddess Sune? Would that show the Gnome that we are not with the Cult? And at the same time not be announcing ourselves to much to the Cult?"
"A dreamweaver you say." Zarra will ask in suprise, finding the word title or name familiar for some reason she tries to think back and whether or not she might know something of what Sylmae spoke of. Still, the idea was intriguing in what she spoke of yet seemed different indeed from that of wizard.
Out of Character: Definitely don't have proficiency in Arcana, but maybe I'll get lucky. I was actually thinking I knew of what she was talking about out of character… but then I remember this was Dungeons & Dragons 5e not Pathfinder.
All in all, I don't think it will hurt to try.
Tazskan, will send his pseudodragon out to fly arround perimeter of fortress and maze.
Keeping within the required communication żonę of 100 feet from Tazskan.
If that means Tazskan is standing on battlements, as opposed to inside castle then So be it.
The pseudodragon, is looking for position as in bearing, and distance.
Keeping notę if cultists arę spread out or bunched up?
How many in one partiicular spot?
Velon reacts to Cratol's news with enthusiasm. "Excellent, your friends will be most useful if they can help with the healing and the magical defenses of the castle. I'm glad to hear that they are eager to be helpful. Lawrance will be quite happy to have a new pupil, to be sure!"
The paladin listens to all of the ideas of what to do before the Blaze reveal themselves to Cyanwrath and his siege army. He likes Poljen's idea of mapping out the maze and scouting in general before they act. "Indeed, it is a good idea Poljen. If you and Lawrance, and perhaps Taz and Amabalis can generate a map it will be a great help."
"Should we try a sending spell? Ideally we can let this gnome know that we are allies and coordinate our efforts."
With regard to the suggestions of Perry and others Velon ponders it but tends to lean that way with his vote. "If we cannot talk to this gnome it may indeed make the the most sense to head into the maze with a map and seek out one of their soldiers to get information from, or go right after Cyanwrath and try to cut the head off of the snake, err, ah, dragon?, right from the start. I think we need to avoid fighting the fifty or so mages all at once, though! What other goals would you all suggest if we go into the maze? I can't imagine we'll get into the tower without permissions from this gnome, and if we do, are we not his or her enemy? If we are going in we should probably hold off on our bombardment of their troops to keep our presence here hidden until the time is right."
"Lawrance, what risk do those mages pose to the castle if we stay at least a few hundred feet up." Velon ponders this himself.
Out of Character: If anyone thinks it's worth the roll, Velon is offering the Help action to Lawrance to see if these 50 casters would have any spells that could put the castle at risk.
Lawrance replies to Velon "We can certainly use the pilot's room to view and draw out the maze, but I doubt it would be that easy. We are talking about a gnome illusionist, after all! Just being a gnome means he is creative and innovate and not completely sane as we define it. Add the powers of a fully realized illusionist and who knows what he'd do. Let's take care of the forces against him, then worry about asking for entrance."
With regards to the mages below: "There are very few spells that could affect us beyond about 300 feet. They'd have to come up and get closer. Even the longest range spell I know of only reaches around 300 feet, although there have been some Warlocks that have been able to cast a spell as far as 1000 feet, but that's a specialist Warlock and only the Eldrich Blast spell, which is a minor damage. We have archers that can reach a goodly distance, I'm sure. If any mage were to get close with a teleport and try a dispel, they couldn't cause the castle to fall because the magic covers too large an area. Not to mention I have put teleport blocks in a lot of the common areas of the castle that Poppo has been renewing daily. It would take some serious expenditures of magic to even locate a place to teleport to, since they can't easily see us. If we hide among a lot of clouds, we'd be even harder to locate. I'm not saying we are invulnerable, but we'd be a hard target. We should expect infiltration rather than directed spells. If they do gain a foothold, they can march in their forces and overwhelm us. "
"50 mages might be worthwhile dropping rocks on first before they can raise defenses against us. Before the armies, take out the mages and see if we can winnow their ranks down. I'd not relish trying to fight them, at any stage, without a lot of magic of our own. I am incredibly impressed at this gnome's defenses to hold off so many casters!"
