As the group gathers up to go, an eyeless head pops up out of the fountain just long enough to spit something at Velon and sink back below. The acid skips off his armor and lands with a sizzle in the hedge.

As the group proceeds down the red path, color once again fades from the stones until they are white, and the group finds themselves facing a similar scene

Out of Character: perception checks please each time you head to a new room.

"Hm, this looks very familiar. Perry, go ahead and stick your tail in that fountain and let's find out. While you're at it, mark that creature somehow so we know if it's the exact same one each time we find a fountain, eh?" He winks at the frantic bard.

"Sure, let's try red and go in the order of that original plinth as Perry suggested. We do need to know more, it seems."

Just as Velon heads down the red path he hears Poljen mention splitting the party four ways. "Hold up Mari, now we have no choice but to split up. It's either that or I have to listen to Poljen cry about not using every single one of his ideas later. Splitting up can often lead to certain death in such places, but given the choice between the two, I choose death."

He winks at Mari and nods for her to keep going down the red path.

Perry looks around and takes a moment to glare at the fountain, "Okay, back here again. If we want to follow the pattern of the stones, then the next path we should go down is the green one."

Perry notices something's different this time, there had been a single small circle etched into the base of the last fountain. Here, it has been joined by a second.

Poljen simply says, "[mess] you, Velon. That line is getting old. But since this monster in this fountain spit acid, while the other one bit, it might not be the same monster. Or even the same fountain. The creature even looks different. I made a suggestion. Maybe we can find out if we are magically going back to the start, or it simply looks the same at each junction."

"Hey guys, quit being angry for a sec and look at the evil fountain here. At the last fountain it was one circle and now we have two circles here. Do you think that means we are going the right way? If we go down green path now, I wonder how many circles we will see at that fountain. Mari, could you do us the honor of leading the way down green? We can check that fountain, but I'm not getting too close. Especially not my tail."

Lawrance peers at the circles with his enhanced sight, from back at the edges of the clearing. "Hmm, that IS important, Perry. At least it's a difference. So, we just need to find increasing circles and go back when we don't?"

"So was it the yellow path, that led to a fountain, with a carnivorous creature, and also spat acid"? Tazskan says.

"Lets go down the green path, and see," He adds.

Tazskan heads down the green path this time, standing at least 20 feet away from a fountain, if seen.
