Removal of ovaries during hysterectomy linked to increase in heart disease, cancer and premature death

A link has been found between removal of both ovaries at the time of hysterectomy and premature death. Increase in incidence of heart disease and cancer, and of deaths from heart disease and cancer when ovaries were removed. More than 113,000 hysterectomy cases were studied and the ovaries were removed in about a third of these. Ref. Source 8w.

Hysterectomy

My wife had a radical hysterectomy because of cancer. This study does a general study but if the cause of the hysterectomy was due from cancer does it increase the risk for that caner? I wonder if tampering with the body does a lot that we still do not understand. I do hope that people who have to go through this still lead full lives.
