Any way you look at this there are supplies and relief efforts under way. The fact that island has been devastated by a major hurricane with may roads blocked, bridges out and supplies being hard to move makes this disaster harder to deal with.

Agreed, this is the toughest of situations and any effort wouldn't be enough for the people that don't get supplies quickly enough. We can't be everywhere all the time and if we sent too many people down there that could bring its own negative impact.

I see a lot of reports that what we are seeing on the news is false and that it is just the news trying to make other upset. People are getting the relief supplies they need and anything being held up are being held up by the mayors and governor of that island and not by the relief workers. Makes me wonder now what the truth is actually is.

It's not that the relief workers are holding it up. Nor are the mayors or the governor holding it up. That would be beyond evil and I don't think that's what is happening. What is happening is the amount of supplies arriving is outstripping the people's there ability to distribute it. Add to the the destroyed infrastructure and you see why there is a backlog.

What this allows is grandstanding by that mayor as she is shown handing out supplies. Maybe she should be in her control center helping to coordinate the relief effort. Ah, but that wouldn't play as well to the news cameras. And because she's a liberal the media is making her out to be a hero rather than asking, "Ms Mayor, with you out here who is leading the effort."
