Swallowed button batteries add to safety concerns about 'fidget spinners'. A report of two young children with burns of the esophagus caused by swallowed button batteries from 'fidget spinners' highlights a risk of severe injuries involving these popular toys, according to a series of reports. The issue of small objects swallowed by children is not new. Fidget spinners don't always have batteries, either. As with anything in this world - we parents need to watch out for our children as much as we can. These little batteries are actually a higher voltage than typical (Usually from 1.5 to 3 volts) and discharge when a circuit is created, such as in the lining of the esophagus. .
