Marcus the Hunter

I, Marcus, was named after my father. I have given myself the title of Hunter because this is what my father has trained me to be.

I am 5 feet and 8 inches tall with a slim yet muscular form. I have shaggy dark brown hair and hazel, at times green, eyes. I have slightly tanned skin. I have a rough, rustic appearance, with a scar over my left eye. The scar was obtained from the first attempt I had with a short bow. The arrow slipped from the sting and nearly blinded myself. I am unshaven, with a bushy, unkempt beard.

I tend to find myself in the company of Druids and others who find themselves at home in nature. I follow various spiritual paths that deal with Survival and The Wilds.

In order to become the next Ruler of Kings I intend to make this kingdom rich with food and wealth by first starting a trade in hides and meat or just hunting for local taverns to serve travelers and other adventurers.

Hunter Marcus

Advisor Description

As I arrived in town I noticed an older gentleman watching me. At the time I thought nothing of it, but later the same gentleman stood but a few yards from me while I was shopping in the market for my daily rations. He was writing in small book each of these times, yet his eyes were fixed on me.

I noticed this for three days, no telling how long prior this has been going on. I was in the tavern running low on coin and debating if I was going to beg for work or go out trapping boars for food and leather to sell. I looked up from my cold soup and warm mead to see this man once again, sitting on the far side of the room, staring at me while jotting some notes in his book. This man was always dressed in fine silk and linens. He wore a suit and had fine leather shoes.

I grunted as I stood up and made my way to his table. He slowly closed his book and put the quill into his inner jacket pocket. Before I could utter the obscenities that were racing in my mind he politely extended his arm across the table, offering me a seat " Take a seat, Marcus. There is much to discuss"

I took the seat, more out of curiosity than courtesy. He told me that he served in the war with my father and had recently learned of both of their passing. My father had saved his life, and he was upset that he had not be given the opportunity to return that favor.

I inquired why such a well dressed man was a soldier in the war. He mentioned that his father forced him to join but he was no soldier. He was a scribe and artist that was commissioned to illustrate the conquests and triumphs of the captain and his troops.

He had no intent to make his presence known to me at the time, but was planning to eventually. He did not know how to approach me, and was glad that I made the first move. He offered me a room in his manor until a house could be built on a small plot of land that he owned, which he would give to me. I quickly refused his hand out. "I want to earn my place, I am no free loader." I told him. He smiled, "You have integrity. I suggest that you never lose it. I will guide you when you need me, but please, allow me to scribe your conquests and your victories. Allow me to be your bard. I can be a fountain of inspiration, if you allow me to be.

I accepted his words, a story every now and then to unwind after a hard day of work could do my spirit some good. I am still a bit suspicious of Adrian. He is always offering to pay for my room or pay for my food, but I refuse. I'll stick to my warm mead and cold soup.

Reflections on your mother

I remember a time shortly after my father died, that my mother worried that I would not live up to the promises that were made of me. I was weak and frail, and could see in her eyes, that she was disappointed in me. She would constantly tell me that I would never be like "him", my father. He was strong, wise, and brave. Though I always sought danger, I usually coward from it when it presented itself.

I took on hard manual labor to help build my strength, but it never seemed to be enough for her. She constantly compared me to my father and belittled any effort I made to honor him. I see now, if it wasn't for her, I would not be as strong as I am now, but her words and her disrespect still affect me when it comes to my personal relationships. Am I good enough? Was she just trying to push me, was it just tough love? Or am I still not the man I need to be?

my self esteem and my ability to lead with confidence could have forever been ruined, tainted, by the way she treated me, but I am stronger and tougher physically for it. I am a damn good trapper due to the skills my father taught me and the physical motivation my mother put me through. I pray that it will be enough, if prayer is something that I am worthy to benefit from.

Hunter Marcus

Marcus lived a short life. He was tasked too hard and thought he owed the world more than he was able to give, but this did not deter him from trying. He was stubborn, a bit too stubborn for his own good. What he lacked in confidence around others, he made up for in an overestimation of his physical abilities.
He died of greed, some small pretty little pebbles caught his eyes. he had no business to venture that direction, but he grew tired and reckless. the jump proved to be further than he was capable of accomplishing. Let his pathetic death be a warning to all those who see his body.
