I feel the way we react to games has to do more with how we are BEFORE playing than during. So if you're a psycho before the game then you will be psycho throughout. A game can't make you go al psycho and start shooting everyone. rolleyes.gif.

I don't know what this study is supposed to prove. I would guess more people who played a cooking video game would touch a frying pan right afterwards than people who didn't play it. Because it's on your mind. Doesn't necessarily connect video games to real life violence. Maybe there is a connection but this study doesn't prove it.

I have personal experience in saying that just the fact the game involves heavy violence and gore is not a reason for people, mainly kids, start adopting violent behavior.Depends of how the player feels about the violence of the game,i always was into games where I engage in violent fights, games where I see disembodied people to games people are hanging on a hook on the wall and that does not ever influence me to cut someone with a chainsaw or stick a hook through their chest.BUT the content is still violent and many situations and scenarios can lead to a player engaging on such a game and actually feel inspired by its violence.Players who has aggressive tendencies even if its not apparent, players who are at moments of immense emotional breakdown where it can lose sense of empathy and see the way the in-game characters simply kill the people that troubles them give the player bad ideas.I did had moments of pure primal rage where the things I saw in a game almost inspired me to drastically hurt somebody, but even if I never saw a violent game something else would inspire me.But there are people in the world that don't need violent games to be violent,to kill or to harm, because violent games are merely violence and violence is everywhere. In nature,we are taught all the animals do is part of a natural cycle but its still violent, and previously came from that scenario where lions murder deers for food or other lions to satisfy their anger or conquer territory, its natural but there is violence. In the media, films and series portray fights and wars, that is violence.Or books, stories and many other forms of art can represent violence. The problem is not the game,is the player.
I am not saying that violent games does not influence violence,i am saying it is not the main source of it,mainly between kids and teens, and most of times it does not even generates violence at all.Games, like music or life in general, can influence such behavior, but because something influences you does not mean you will do what it influences you to do.It depends greatly on the player if the game will change him or not.

I don't believe so. My friends and I played lots of Call of Duty and Grand Theft Auto and most of us haven't even used a gun. Or have the desire to do so. So really I think it's based on the person and home influences.

Most gamers, even kids, recognise the game world as an alternate reality, where normal laws, behaviour and morality is often cast aside. It is a place where you could do things that aren't allowed in the real world. It is very rare that a gamer would bring one's in-game actions or attitudes into their daily life.
