Mysterious Person at the Tavern

At first I could not see the face, hidden as it were behind the hood of her travelling cloak. However, I recognised the height and build as belonging to that of an Elf, and with the subtle tones to the voice, realised it was a female from the village where I grew up. Feeling excited to meet up with one from so far away, and a connection to my past at that, I eagerly found us a spot at an oak table set for two, far from the immense noise and constant chatter of the main tavern area. I was now intrigued as to why someone would come from my village and approach me in this manner, but I was certainly more excited than apprehensive at what was to follow.
As we sat and ordered some nice wine, my new companion removed the hood off from her face. Long flowing white locks cascaded off of a diminutive, shy looking but half smiling face. As she introduced herself, I started to vaguely remember Torania as belonging to the Mystical order, the one my Mother would visit regularly. As we spoke it became clear that my Mother had a secret that she had kept from me. Not only was she a well-known Herbalist, but a member of the order of Elven Mystics, and quite a powerful spell caster in her prime.
We spoke of the village, and how all the people that I remembered were faring. As we drank a little wine, Torania became a more animated companion, and was able to fill in details of people and the places that I'd started to forget. She was easy to talk with, with a slight melodic lilt to her laugh that took my best conversation to coax from her. She was impressed by how far I'd come, in so short a space of time, and could see I had not wasted time learning skills that would not benefit my path to rulership. She suggested I continue to improve those skills I had already acquired, and to keep looking to expand my horizons, so I would be ready for any eventuality.
I had the impression that the conversation was a part of the final test that my mother had asked the order to make, to ensure that I was the son she'd always hoped I'd become.
My Mother had asked for the Order to keep a watch over me as I grew into manhood, and at the age that I would begin my studies of the magical arts, one of the order would approach me and offer the endowment Torania was now bestowing upon me. She knew that the magical studies would be costly, and wanted her son, me, to be able to complete my studies without worrying where my next meal would come from.
As our conversation slowly wound its course, I could see in Torania's face she was weighing up everything she'd learned from me, and I saw the moment her decision was made that I had passed the test as laid out by my mother. She quietly reached into the folds of her travelling cloak and pulled out a small bundle, which she then processed to pass to me.
As Torania passed the small bundle across the table, I could but wonder what the contents would be. She said I should open this in a private place, as I would be pleasantly surprised by the contents. I thanked her profusely and she spoke kindly of my Mother, how fond she had been of her, and how proud my mother would be of how I was developing.
As she prepared to leave, she held my hand and bid me good fortune, promising that the order would continue to watch from afar and continue to be proud of the person I was becoming.
Once she left the Tavern, I took the endowment home so I could open it in private. The first thing that fell into my hand was a handwritten note from my mother. With tears slowly welling up, I read the contents and then read them again, before putting the letter with my other keepsakes. Then I turned my attention to the bundle. A small pouch containing 3000 gold pieces, and a piece of paper with an incantation that as I finished reading had the effect that time was once again all but frozen, and I found myself able to move with little hindrance, at least for a while (Giving me a Turn increase of 5000). The last of the package, 3 perfectly formed stones, wrapped in paper with a note saying each of these would heal all wounds and adverse effects were I to put one in my mouth and swallow at the time of need.
I sat at my small table for what seemed like a long time, before offering a prayer to my Goddess for bringing me such kindness.
Bolstered by the gift, I prepared to fulfil my destiny.

Why Am I Zardoz?

What makes a person Good. What an interesting question posed by that youg child.
I've never really given it much thought, other than to always try and be kind to others, to help wherever possible, and to be a friend if a friend is needed. I do not look for payment or profit in this, but hope that my goodness will spread to others and they too will be like me. In this way, the world will be a nicer place for everyone to enjoy.

Marisa the Fighter joins the Adventure Party of Zardoz

Sitting in the Tavern pondering my latest adventure, it dawned on me that I needed help in my adventures.
What struck me about Marisa was the way she held herself in company. She drank just enough that others thought she was joining in, but not enough to dull her senses. I could see a well-kept weapon hanging from her scabbard. When we struck up a conversation I could sense we shared a similar outlook on life, and so struck a bargain to work together.

Wish I could change this about myself

I have now been in Town for a few short years, yet time has flown by. I have learned many skills that will help me on my journey, but am yet to determine the right path. I believe the one thing holding me back is a sense of singlemindedness. I cannot make up my mind as to which direction to take, and so am becoming a jack of all trades, and master of none. I amcoming to the conclusion that I must focus and become an expert in a few choice skills, oh but which ones are the right ones… there are so many useful talents to learn… that is the one thing I would change about myself.. The ability to make decisions and stick to a plan.
