Come on...Where are all the American citizens?
So far, we've had somebody from the UK, and somebody from Trinidad answer since Thanksgiving day...is everybody else still recovering? laugh.gif

Glad to hear that you enjoyed your day LDS and JB, great to spend that family time together.

Thanksgiving Happy

laugh.gif I think I hurt myself... The food this year was awesome! My mom did most of the cooking and it was fabulous not to have to be in charge. My son joined us - minus the girlfriend because they broke up, so sad! -- and it was just the five of us. Really lovely visiting and just being together. So much to be grateful for this year, and hope everyone enjoys this "launch" into the holidays and the new year.

Myself and my wife cooked most of the food and had my parents and her ex husband and his new wife and daughter over for a nice dinner. I can safely say I ate too much too. Now I am relaxing through today to let my body use all of those extra calories before I head to work.

Thanksgiving Happy

Too much good cooking. Here is what we had on the table:

13 lb oven roasted turkey
13 lb deep fried turkey
10 lb ham
10 lbs of mashed potatoes
5 lbs of sweet potatoes with shredded pineapple
a large bowl of Corn
a large bowl of cranberry sauce
a large bowl of apple salad
a medium sized bowl of applesauce jello
a medium sized bowl of green bean casserole
a medium sized bowl of creamed style corn
about 40 rolls
A large bowl of dressing
two pans of corn cake 8" square
Gravy
two pumpkin pies and one pecan pie.

I think I am forgetting something here. But it was a good spread for 6 adults and 5 kids.

I don't mean to sound too ignorant here..but what is apple salad? (Do you mean like lettuce leaves and apple type thing?)
Forgive me.. I've not heard of it before laugh.gif

We had an oven-roasted turkey, about 16 pounds. Mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, what we like to call "burned" green beans (they are just sauteed, but one year they got a little crispy smile.gif ), sauteed mushrooms, fruit salad (lots of fruit mixed with whipped cream), and candied yams. Not a "large" bowl of anything, as there was just the five of us. Apple pie, pumpkin pie, and chocolate cake. Mmmmm!

Well I do not know what my mother puts into her apple salad. Basically it is cut up apples with mini marshmallows and grapes. I think there is more too it like whipped cream too. I am not sure.

I did find out about her applesauce jello. It is easy to make. Take apple sauce and add it to the powered jello and next add some seven up. IF you use all non sweetened it is even better.
