Wolf's Bait - Page 4

The Game Master says...

You decide that light is not an option, this makes your trek up the mountain slower and more painful. You come close to the peak and unlike the West mountain top you do not hear the sounds of laughter or any movement. The place actually looks rather abandoned.

Bait Wolfs

The Game Master says...

GM: Just some notes - Krakyn's roll will be based on KNtoran's roll. The rest of the storyline will be based on my roll and everyone's passed roll.

Thomas proceeds closer while everyone braces. A swish through the air can be heard as an arrow goes past him. Before he can react another arrow comes through the darkness and hits his armor and does no damage.

You are indeed being watched and they have the vantage point.

Wolf's Bait RPG PBP Medieval World

The Game Master says...

You look to see where the arrows came from but together with the darkness your view does not give any better ideas than a simple guess: You assume it must be from some opening where they are firing and then hiding. Firing arrows will be similar to firing into the air.

The Game Master says...

You look for fire but do not see any, either you are not close enough or they have put it out.

You are currently on a narrow path that ascends to the peak of the mountain. Towards the side of the peak more or less away from your view is an opening that you remember from last time.

It is dark but just enough moon light to see about 20 feet in front of you. Going up definitely makes you a target and a modifier will be applied.

Bait Wolfs

The Game Master says...

You attempt to make a lighted flask to crash against the mountain thus lighting the surroundings. In the process of sparking the fire you hear an arrow coming your way. The noise and light is giving away your location. You hurry and throw with anticipation, no spectacular light comes from it save for an initial blaze and then it quickly dies as it runs off the rocky surface of the mountain. It did give you enough chance to see someone duck from the side entrance of the mountain, but that is all you could see.

Wolf's Bait

The Game Master says...

You move towards the cave without any light and find the pursuance difficult as arrows start to come your way.

GM: Based on rolls against Thomas I had 20 twice plus a modifier of +5 and still cannot penetrate!

Even with arrows hitting squarely at Thomas his storm shield protects him from danger as you go up and into the cave where you now see visible light.

Thomas bashes with his shield so as to render the bandit, now clearly visible, unconscious. Thomas accomplishes this not with his first try, but his second. The other bandit immediately drops his weapon and begs for mercy while dropping to his knees. The center pit with small flickering flames shows the fear in his face. You tie them both up with what is available.

The Game Master says...

You tend to wounds, secure the area and attempt to interrogate your new captive who seems very willing to share information with you especially after your threats.

GM: The numbered points is the actual info you get in between his mumbling and rambling.

1. There are about 50-60 bandits but they get new recruits so he cannot be sure about the exact number
2. They used train wolves to pick up the scents and assist them in battle so that needs to be added to their total number
3. The trail you came up on is the only way up and down the mountain. They are trained in climbing so it is easy for them
4. The smoke signals warm of armies coming, once certain patterns are not seen then bandits within Death's Mouth know something is wrong

Wolf's Bait World Medieval PBP RPG - Page 4

The Game Master says...

You drag the unconscious bandit outside to be looked over by Crusher as he watches for anyone coming up the mountain.

You question the bandit and learn the following:

1. Deeper in Death's Mouth there are cave entrances that lead to underground dens.
2. The leader is a senior fighter with great skill, he pays a salary to all the bandits and it is rumored that he has enormous wealth but no one knows where it is for obvious reasons.
3. There are not reinforcements only new recruits usually from East City and they come now and again.
4. Lookouts usually stay at the top of the mountain for a couple of days.
5. You cannot see their base from any position because it is hidden underground but he tells you that almost half the way into Death's Mouth on the right by a certain rock formation there is a path that leads to the main den.

GM: Say what you wish to do now.
