If they charged him with murder, I am pretty sure there must be some heavy evidence against him. The fiance and friends still in shock, wait for some days when more facts are revealed.

The judge has denied him bail. The other thing the police have is his serious gambling debts. Possibly he was also being threatened and acted desperately (just a theory).

This is getting creepy by the minute, not only the guy is pleading not guilty stating through his lawyer that he is not the man the police is looking but authorities found underwear allegedly from the victims, it seems like he kept them as "mementos". For me, a typical behavior of a serial killer.
Now with all these things the police is finding, why is it that his family can still believe he is innocent? Why would the police want to "plant" evidence against a medical student? Makes no sense to me.

This guy is guilty for sure. The police found the underwear of the women in his apartment. When the police stopped the car him and his girlfriend were in Markoff did not ask any questions of the police officers when they searched his car, however his girlfriend was demanding answers as to what was going on. She obviously doesn't know the monster she was going to marry.
