I agree - love is much more than a physical attraction - it is the difference between being happy about making someone happy, and being made happy by someone. Lust is transitory and crude, satisfying our physical nature to procreate with the brightest feathers, smartest partner, flamboyant mate. Love is when we find someone who does more for us than just fill that need.
Education, as always, is the key. While love and lust are cousins, one is shallower than the other and too other peters out into *meh*.
Its simple, when you love someone you want to give to them because you think about them, when you lust you want to take from them because you are interested in your gratification not theirs.
If you want to know if its love then think of all the times you were down, sick or in need. Did the person you care about help you? Then its love, if not they're 'around' for a different reason.
It applies the other way around to. If you are interested in someone and care about when they are down, sick or in need then its love. If you are just about how they look or their popularity then its lust.
Disclaimer: Not a love guru or counselor, just experienced *wink*.
