The problem is the only independent people we have is the UN and it takes a long time for them to get in there. I have read in the past that Assad has been doing things like chemical attacks to his own people but has that been independently verified as well?

Sorry to say, but I think the UN has failed at remaining independent when they put wolves in charge of the sheep. Recently, Syria was elected to lead the UN council on the disarmament of chemical weapons.Syria to chair UN Disarmament forum, Human rights violators are on the UN Human Rights Council Human Rights violators, and other examples of seriously demented workings in the UN. I wouldn't trust them to produce any impartial rulings anytime soon.

I did not know Syria was chairing that how ironic or moronic depending on how you look at it or which side you are on. So who could go in Syria and tell us candidly what happened after a scientific test for chemical weapons? At this late stage most things can be cleaned up and cleared.

US preparing for full and rapid withdrawal from Syria. Planning is underway for a "Full" and "Rapid" withdrawal of US troops from Syria, a US defense official told CNN Wednesday.
The decision was made by President Donald Trump, the official added.
The US has about 2,000 troops on the ground in the country, where they are primarily training local forces to combat ISIS. The US has forces in Iraq ready to launch attacks in Syria if necessary. Ref. USAToday.

US service members killed in explosion while on patrol in Syria, US military says. A Pentagon official confirmed to USA TODAY that U.S. Soldiers had died but did not say how many. Reuters, citing an unidentified U.S. Official, said four U.S. Soldiers were killed and three wounded in a blast.
