Bully, Bullying, Bullies & The Bullied - Page 2

It's scary to see what some of these kids are going through, and crazy that it's not talked about until after the fact. I was bullied as a kid, so I know the effects it can have on you. This is something we all have to work together to stop. Parents, children, teachers, friends. All need to start communicating to get this problem squashed before it keeps killing and hurting these innocent kids.

Bullied and Bullies Bullying Bully

The article with the school denying any knowledge of the teen being bullied makes me angry, especially with how the article itself has the word bullied in hyphens, as if to cast doubt on such. Too many schools and teachers turn a blind eye to bullying, and I feel that they should be held accountable for allowing an environment where such things can go noticed.

I've been bullied in the past when I was in school, my Freshman and Sophomore year betting especially bad. Yet what I was forced to do was simply keep quite and ignore it. Where I was even kicked out of band class because my teacher, and I quote, "Didn't want to babysit me". Since there was students purposefully trying to get a rise out of me, that it was my fault for letting them bother me.

Technically, it is your fault for letting them get a rise out of you. You let them. It doesn’t matter that they did it, or the teacher didn’t help sufficiently in your eyes. You allowed them to upset you.

I was heavily bullied as a child. It largely stopped when someone pointed out you had to look at things philosophically. Are they causing you physical harm by calling you a name? No? Then why care? By not allowing myself to get upset, I then developed a wicked sense of humour that has helped me to this day. Bullies aren’t prepared for someone to stand up for themselves by going along with their jokes, and then firing back. If you can self-deprecate to the point you make others uncomfortable, and send that back at a bully, there’s nothing they can say that you haven’t already said worse about yourself.

I understand modern society frowns upon defending yourself physically, but if a bully wants to assault you, a punch to the nose means they’re unlikely to return if they know they’ll get another.

It dose not matter if they started it first though, if you are the one that punches someone you get in trouble. I am all for standing up for yourself but not starting the physical conflict.

I've been punched twice in high school, and I never retaliated. More, I basically just went, "What the heck dude, really?" Admittedly, my bullying might have become more severe if I didn't had a Senior who take me under his wing my Freshman year and befriended me. A guy who actually taught he how to play Magic the Gathering and gave me my first deck, a White Mirrodin leonin deck.
