Rejected
The Board of Supervisors has rejected the vast Merriam Mountains housing development which would have added 2,630 homes in North County along the I-15 corridor.
The board voted 3-2 after hearing more than four hours of public opinion that was about equally split between supporters and opponents. Proponents said the project will create much-needed construction jobs and housing, as well as amenities such as parks and hiking trails. Opponents raised various concerns, including traffic, noise, fire safety and the impact the project would have on the rural character of the area. Ref. SignOnSanDiego.com
