A possible look into the future?
A review by Billy Bob
The premise is pretty good, the special effects are outstanding and the cast led by Sinise and Robbins is excellent. There are several really great sequences in this film that are pretty intense and extremely well done. The problem is the stuff in-between really drags at times. De Palma has obviously been watching alot of Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey prior to making this, and unfortunately he picked up a Stanley Kubrick habit of not knowing when to edit out some dreck and just get on with the danged story.

[movie] Mission To Mars (Hover)
I liked this movie a lot, although I thought De Palma would give more emphasis about what they found in Mars rather than to wait a whole hour and half to show you the trip itself and a half an hour or less of what they found there. I would rate the movie -B.
I liked the movie, but the ending was just a bit 'too' much for me. I actually think if it weren't for the 'how they got there' sequence then the movie would have been pretty drab.
I give it a:
I'm reviewing some older movies tonight. I loved Mission to Mars mostly because of how real it was to me. I felt like I was there with them and not watching something like Star Wars where I know it just couldn't happen.
It was a really good movie. I especially liked the way the characters were portrayed and how their personal lives and feelings were so well explained. People often overlook these aspects of a movie, but those are what creates the impact though the viewer often may not realize it.
As for the sci-fi part, that was good too.
