Are we really independent?

Come August 31st, Trinidad and Tobago will be celebrating yet another year as an Independent Nation.  However, the question arises.....are we really independent?

To me, independence is a wonderful concept.....Yes, we are "independent" of Colonial Rule etc etc, but what really matters to me is the other simple everyday stuff that we have to deal with.  For example, are we independent of crime, domestic violence, sexual harrassment, poverty and so many other forms of injustices we encounter on a daily basis?  My opinion is that we are really not as Independent as we may think.

What's your take on this?

independent we Are

Well, definetly I don't think Trinidad is independent  at all,  also is not independent from the British either (I still think Britain have a lot to say regards to Trinidad laws and stuff, education system). I agree with your points also, the small things of daily life counts too.
