The Red House a Museum?

I am a(an): Trinidadian

Do you think the PM's new idea to turn the Red House into a museum is a good one?

For me, I think it is! Why? We need more buildings focusing on our heritage. We also need a better place for parliament to meet. Plus many will get jobs in the end. Win win situation as far as I see.

It's funny anything that would gain popularity amongst the lay people of trini has to have the carrot of employment attached.Yeah, Iam sure loads of people would gain employment, that's fantastic and it is great to have yet another building of historical importance. However, I put it to you haow, many people in Trinidad have atually set foot in the Museum, yeah the building around the Savannah, how may people actually know which building it is? hummm
I am all for preservation of historical relics of the colonial days, but I ask of you is it for the natives best interest or is it another added tourist attraction? How much mone is going to be envolved in making this blueprint a building?

lafemme, I heard they want to spend MILLIONS AND MILLIONS of dollars for it. I don't think it's worthy of it. Come on, let's use that money on the poor people of Trinidad, in education, in health, in so many things!.

I definitely agree it's funny things that need to be redressed are right under their noses and yet they always cast their eyes on something else .It was the expansion of the Airport, look at the problems that cost, so much millions was spent there and it still has not been completed. I don't know what was wrong with the old one? Look at the Hospitals for christ sake! they NEED repairs , they need linnen and medicine, new machines. Darn it ! and all they could proccupy their minds with is erecting a new building for Parliament!!!
No matter what regime is in the power seat they never seem to turn the wheels os power as they promised in their manifesto and if they do it's never done whole heartedly. I hope they reconsider on that unsound decision better things could be done with the money they plan to use.

Yes I know that is what you mean, and I am far from ordinary wink.gif In fact I wonder if I can truly call myself a Trinidadian since I have nothing in common with the culture here save my birth certificate.
