To make sure you do not have mail worm called,
'Klez' please go to this link and download the
FREE program:

Scroll down to 'Klez Detector and Disinfector Tool'
Klez causes your email to send fake 118kb - 200kb
messages to people you normally write.
Sorry to take so long to reply LDS - like real says, only if you open attachments can you be infected (basic), but there are dangerous viruses that can infect your computer just from visiting a web page (advanced). Its best to disable JAVA which is a prime example of how your computer can be cracked into. You do this via the options section in your browser. For email I use a filter and guage to send email based on address and words. For instance, if an email is sent to my inbox, but is not addressed to me directly then it is automatically sent to a spam folder or trash as the case may be. In this way I do not even have to look at the email!
Footnote:
PC-Cillin internet suite 2006 on a fresh install does not have the virus files to detect all versions of Klez. It is not until you download the first definition file updates that you receive protection from all known strains of Klez.
Just in case anyone installs without doing the updates. I do in my work environment still see active copies of Klez on occasion so be ware.
