Access To Lds Deep Doctrine Board

In case you are wondering why non-LDS can't access the LDS Deep Doctrine Board...

For someone like myself who enjoys learning and reading up on different cultures and religions why would you ban people from seeing these boards. Just because I don't believe the same way you do? Wouldn't it help to understand the religion or someone from that religion better? Or just would cause to many controversies here with someone say of the Catholic backround reading a board on Wicca ?

Just sparked my interest when I was surfing. I know how to Google the information smile.gif

I am not sure if what you are asking is support related, but no one is banned from seeing the Religious Boards, in fact, you do not even have to be a Member of the Community to read it.

I'm just guessing, you are speaking of the LDS Deep Doctrine boards. You are most likely seeing the forum watch dog telling you that you are not a member of LDS. This is different than the general studies boards under Religious Beliefs. I personally do not have the ability to read these topics either. But for general study or interest in the beliefs you should check out the Religious Beliefs boards. There you will find studies for non-LDS.

Board Doctrine Deep Lds Access

If this is what Kozak meant to ask then the answer is simple. The LDS Doctrine Boards are for Members who want to broaden their knowledge beyond the basics, they cannot do so if they are constantly bombarded by non-LDS questions. Hence there is a Board set-up known as 'Studies of Latter-Day Saints where you can get answers to questions you may have about the Latter-Day Saints.

Offtopic but,
Now with that said, this is really a support related issue, but I will let it remain in case others have the same question.

Kozak, we share some of the same likes for research of other religions and cultures. I think I can shed some light for you.

1.) There is a general religious area for study as well as individual sub-area's which specialize in certain area's of religion such as Judaism, Islam, Catholicism, and LDS. These provide a general area to discuss religion and special areas in which to discuss particular religions. These are set up to spread knowledge and insulting other religions is not allowed.

2.)There also remains an LDS Deep Doctrine board that you can only access if you are LDS. This is because this board is not designed to answer questions about their faith to outside unbelievers. It is an area in which LDS members may discuss matter of their faith with others who believe the same, in an environment in which they don't have to explain their beliefs or have their beliefs questioned. There is a time and an area for that, but LDS Deep Doctrine is more of a safe haven for discussion and not to educate outsiders.

3.)All religious boards should be accessible for all members save the LDS Deep Doctrine boards. If you are unable to reach them, I suggest sending an email to the admin. If you have specific LDS questions, there is a section in the religion board dedicated to LDS teachings and questions. I myself have had several questions answered by very knowledgable LDS members. They are most definitely not shy about their faith and are willing to explain their beliefs to you as long as you are not rude, demeaning, or demanding. Remember, the idea is to spread knowledge, no debunk someone elses beliefs. Though discussion regarding religious beliefs are encouraged.

Hope this helps clear things up for you. If not, PM me with any other questions regarding religious discussion. If I don't know the answer, I can find it!

Access To Lds Deep Doctrine Board

Wasn't really looking for support more of why LDS Deep Doctrine was banned from me reading a more indepth look into LDS. Now that I understand what the board is for it is a good idea. As there are other area's to ask questions and learn. Just wondered why you would want to withhold information about a religion from someone wanting to learn about it, and it was answered. Curiosity never hurt anyone but the cat!

Kozak, no problem, I believe this is actually explained in the error message the watch dog gives you when you try to access the LDS Deep Doctrine Board.

I do not understand the sense of it. I actually was able to read the messages there before I joined and when I did join I was denied access.
