World-wide Leadership Training

Yesterday I attended a live broadcast of the First Presidency and the Twelve Apostles teaching about various leadership positions in the Church. They reviewed many things, including how ordinances are to be doine, what is appropriate or not in sacrament, etc.

I admit that I was not all excited to watch a TV screen, but I really enjoyed it in the end. You would have seen this if you are in a priesthood leadership position in the Church, if you did, what are your comments?

Some points that were cleared up I will add to this later.

I finally got my notes together, here are some random points:

1. In an emergency an ordination can be performed and then ratified

2. A Bishop once ordained, is always a Bishop

3. No priesthood holder should spend more than two nights a week in Church work and one of those nights should be for the members

4. Husbands and Wives should not give prayers at the same meeting

5. It is not necessary to hold a prayer meeting before sacrament meeting

6. Children can take the sacrament as a preparation for covenants they will make in the future

7. When the final speaker has spoken in sacrament meeting there should be no commentary about it by the person conducting

8. Pres. Hinckley outlined the order of things for a priesthood holder:

a. Responsible first to his family
b. Responsible secondly to his employer
c. Responsible thirdly to the Lord's work
d. Responsible to ourselves

Of course there was much more, but these points I think are the most misunderstood or forgotten.

Very true, it will be good to followup to ensure that what was given is not forgotten.

One other point worth mentioning is this...

I have heard many Brethren in the Church say that you must put two hands on the person you are blessing when you are mouth. Well it was shown that when there are several Brethren in a circle that the right hand of the person that is mouth goes on the head of the receiver and the left hand on right shoulder of the person to their left.
