The Seminoles trailed by 18 points in the second quarter, then by four with 1:19 left, but Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston shook off his early struggles to lead FSU to a 34-31 win with a late touchdown pass to wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin. Winston completed 20 of 35 passes for 237 yards and two touchdowns, none of them bigger than the one with 13 seconds remaining. Alabama, Oregon, Florida State and Ohio State are the four college football teams in the inaugural College Football Playoff, the selection committee announced Sunday.

Alabama and Ohio State will square off in the Sugar Bowl, while Oregon and Florida State will battle in the Rose Bowl. The respective winners will meet to decide the national championship in Dallas on January 12, 2015. Ref. CNN

Led by Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Mariota, the University of Oregon defeated Florida State 59-20 on Thursday at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, in the first-ever College Football Playoff semifinal.

The second-ranked Ducks will face the winner of Thursday's second semifinal -- No. 1 Alabama or No. 4 Ohio State -- in the national championship game on January 12.



Ohio State will play Oregon in the College Football Playoff championship game on January 12 after beating Alabama 42-35 in the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans. Ref. CNN
