Singer Glen Campbell Released From Jail

international QUOTE
Country singer Glen Campbell (News), whose hits included "Rhinestone Cowboy," struck another car while driving drunk and left the scene, then later kneed a police officer while demanding to see the police chief, authorities said Tuesday.

He was freed early Tuesday on $2,000 bail on charges of extreme drunken driving and hit and run. He also was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer.

Campbell, 67, was arrested Monday at his home after a collision at a Phoenix intersection in which nobody was hurt, police Sgt. Randy Force said. A witness had followed the car, called police on a cell phone and directed them to a home in the Biltmore area, Force said.

What really got me was further in the article he was quoted as saying: 'Do you know who I am. I'm Glen Campbell' ... I shouldn't be locked up like this.'

Um, excuse me… Mr. Campbell needs a reality check here.

Ok, now why is it that some famous and/or former famous celebrities have to play the "I'm so and so" or "Don't you know who I am?" like that is gonna let them off the hook for breaking the law.

Should their fame exclude them when they break the law?

Well actually I am always impressed by the way the US is unafraid to arrest famous people (not including the consequences they face) as it shows that no one is above the law. Its a shame to be drinking and driving though, especially at that age - how very irresponsible.

Campbell Glen

Glen Campbell, the upbeat guitarist from Delight, Arkansas, whose smooth vocals and down-home manner made him a mainstay of music and television for decades, has died following a battle with Alzheimer's disease, his family announced on Facebook. He was 81.

Campbell is best remembered for a string of country-inflected hits that ran from the mid-'60s to the late '80s: "Gentle on My Mind," "Rhinestone Cowboy," "By the Time I Get to Phoenix," "Wichita Lineman," "Galveston," "Southern Nights" and "The Hand That Rocks the Cradle" among them.

They fit in neatly on both pop and country radio, with two of them -- "Rhinestone Cowboy" and "Southern Nights" -- hitting No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. He was also famous for "The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour," a TV variety show that ran from 1969 to 1972.

In 2011, he announced he had Alzheimer's. Despite the diagnosis, he released an album, "Ghost on the Canvas," to positive reviews, and followed it with a tour. There were times he would forget lyrics or find himself suddenly unfamiliar with a chord change, but the audience urged him on.

He told CNN he had no regrets.

"I am content with it. Don't cry over spilt milk," he said. "Get up and be a man and do what you have got to do."

Campbell is survived by his wife, Kim, and eight children. Three previous marriages ended in divorce. Ref. CNN.

I grew up listening to a lot of his songs and I still enjoy listening to them. I hope that he rests in peace and send his family my prayers.
