Democrat Tony Evers upsets Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker in his bid for a third term, AP reports. Democrat Tony Evers defeated incumbent Republican Gov. Scott Walker, who was seeking a third term, according to the Associated Press. Walker had gained national attention, and beat back a recall effort, because of his rollback of bargaining rights for unionized teachers. Evers, the state schools superintendent since 2009, accused Walker of being divisive and of underfunding education. Ref. USAToday.

Wisconsin GOP lawmakers worked through the night to pass a lame-duck plan to give them a greater say in running state government as Democrat Tony Evers prepares to take office Jan. 7.
