The Pentagon wasted as much as $28 million over the past decade buying uniforms for the Afghan army with a woodland camouflage pattern appropriate for a tiny fraction of that war-torn country, according to the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction. The Afghan Defense Minister picked the pricey, privately owned "Forest" color pattern over free camouflage schemes owned by the U.S. Government, an advance copy of the report obtained by USA TODAY says.

Good, and then let's have them answer for the billions squandered on other stupid projects that haven't borne fruit. But Congress should also look to itself. They routinely add things to the military's budget that the military doesn't want, can't use, and can ill afford. They do this because they are produced in their home state on Congressional district. This is pork. When the military gets these items that Congress rams down their throats they then have to spend money they can't afford and haven't planned for to maintain these items. Politics is politics, but let's try and leave politics out of our national defense… maybe just for once.
