Furnished or Unfurnished?
Are there any advantages or disadvantages between a Furnished vs. unfurnished home or apartment?
If your just starting off in life buying a house that has furniture in it is a blessing. You do not have a lot of money and not having to buy something to sit or eat on can save you money in the long run.
If you are moving to a new place you may not want a furnished house because you have the furniture you have grown accustomed to. You have your favorite chair and lamps. You do not want a bunch of other peoples junk in this case.
So I think it depends a lot on your situation in life if you want a furnished or unfurnished home.
A furnished rental is nice if you need to stay out of town and still wish to keep the lace you live. For a young person starting out it can be a nice way to get decently furnished place to live while banking monies to buy your own home.
The downside if anything gets damaged you are on the hook for it.
If you buy a furnished home it means some one likely passed away and the people selling do no desire to clean it out so you inherit all the junk.

If you are young and just moved out from your parent's home, then furnished is ideal otherwise if you have your own furniture and a whole bunch of kids then unfurnished is the way to go. It all depends on your particular situation.

If you have children you definitely want to go with unfurnished because you will already have loads of repairs to do to the apartment by the time you move out so you don't want to also be having to replace furniture. If you own furniture gets messed up because of the kids well you can recover from that more easily than what the landlords might demand.

I am more of a unfurnished guy. I stayed with my parents an additional 3 months after I got my first job just to get enough money to buy furniture and put a down payment on a car. The furnished apartments actually do charge you for the furnishings with higher rent, so you are in a sense paying for furniture each month in a furnished apartment...it just isn't yours. Comments: The only way I will ever accept furnished anything is if I am going to stay temporary and don't care about how the place looks. Furnishings represent you and there is no way a random landlord can know what a potential tenant will like.
I did some research into parasites and bugs in furniture once for class project and I can guarantee you that you do not want any used or second hand furniture! Those things are bug / parasite magnets. You don't know what the last tenat was doing on that furniture.
