Insects: Friends & Foes - Page 2

I think insects are cool, Butterflies are nice, Ladybugs are good. But I hate bugs that hurt you... Mosquitos Bite you, give you itchy spots, Bee's, Hornet's, Wasp's, etc. Sting you (And they hurt soooo much). Flies bug you, dung beetles are sick (rolling dung) but somebody has to do it. Some bugs are good, some bugs are bad. But however they are I think they are cool.

Foes and Friends Insects

I"m not so sure that they are cool. I spent the first 18 years of my life in western Washington state. Typical bugs were mosquitos and bees, and not very many of either. I then spent four years down in Georgia, it was there I learned to HATE bugs with a passion. Not only are there an incredible number of insects in the south, there are an incredible number of those that want your blood.

Bugs are not cool, they are annoying! Nothing worse than mosquitoes and other such bugs parading around like they are doing any good! Arg! But if I have to pick a bug I like, I would say that caterpillars are the most interesting because there are so many different kings. I like mosquitoes the least, for obvious reasons. We don't have many lady bugs or butterflys where I live though. We have tons of grasshoppers, they are just a pain, especially during their growth season, they are just everywhere!

I would have to say I like the lady bugs. The lady bugs at least eat bad bugs and keep the good one alive. I know they eat plant mites and keep aphids alive.

I think the lady bug is the same as our ladybird, they are about the only bug that I can stand!

My little girl on the other hand, has a real fascination for all types of bugs, and as she has no fear, she just picks them up all the time, carries them in and drops them on me!

I have learnt to control my screaming and panic laugh.gif, while I try to ask her in a high pitched squeak to take them back outside, or better still, next time show them to Daddy *smiles*.
