What Does The Word "Pagan" Mean?
Religion Based
Name: Kulap
Comments: I hear this word used more by Christians than by the pagans themselves. What does the word "pagan" mean?
I do agree with Harkon but I feel people in general have a different perception about the meaning of Pagan and Paganism. This might be in large part due to certain religions constantly associating Paganism with being part of some kind of evil dark side.
This is because paganism was outlawed in most of the known world.
The Church, both Christian and Islamic hunted and burned so-called heretics for thousands of years. Any threat to the churches Power was destroyed, and this oppression was felt deeply by women. This had nothing to do with religion, only gaining Wealth and Control.
It was the way of Pagans to meet in secret, their practice was Occult or "Hidden".
This is why it has such a Dark image, people fear the Unknown.
Most Pagans I know are good friendly people, same as anyone else.
They believe in Karma and working with energy and healing light.
