When I can root out the exact weights and measurements etc, I'll post the recipie for hotpot.

Great, please post it in the Homemaking & Receipies board so others that wish to put oin the calories can alos benefit. wink.gif By the way, I believe they use lard in the UK to make the chips, that gives it the special flavor. I believe lard is not allowed for commercial use in the US?

Introduction Paul

Yes, people do use lard for chips in the UK, and very good they are too biggrin.gif. Although just as many people use regular vegetable oil. I've had them both ways and I like both.

To be honest I'm not sure if lard is available commerically here or not. Since we use oil, it's never occured to me. Renee or one of the other stateside posters might know though.

Pardon my jumping in -- you can buy lard in 1 to 3 pound bricks at most grocery stores I've been to in Southern California. I'm not sure if you can get it Minnesota, though wink.gif

Lard is readily available in Minnesota, but most people prefer to use Crisco shortening. I don't do much baking that calls for solid shortening, but I do make some great chocolate chip cookies. I think I just may make a batch this coming weekend. Yum!
