MS 13 in Trinidad

On the news today an inspector was saying that he did not want to scare anyone but he wanted everyone to know that they have found MS 13 tattoos in Trinidad which he took to mean that MS 13 is in Trinidad. What are your thoughts about that? Is MS 13 in Trinidad or is it just 'bad boys' trying to play they are part of MS 13? If MS 13 in Trinidad then it is no laughing matter. I have seen a documentary on them and they are serious about what they do and the crimes they commit. Check out the Thread I wrote in the International Law & Order Board HERE.

I hope for everyone sake that Ms 13 is not in T&T. If they are it would make some sense to the fact that your area seems to keep going down hill with crime and corruption on the rise. I hope that someday police forces are able to break Ms 13 and place its members behind bars.

Not to dispute your source but I really don't think we really have to fear the MS-13 gangs here. There is no reason for them to be here. They are composed mostly of Salvadorans, Guatemalans, and Hondurans. Not much of those here in Trinidad. I think some idiot(s) here saw the tattoos and decided to imitate them, true Trini style, copy something without knowing the reason behind them. Oh and to be honest if the inspector didn't want to scare anyone, why did he mention it, especially without proving hard facts on the matter.

What if those same said "idiots" though were not only copying their tattoos but the acts in which they are known for? It seems there are always those out there that are "copycat" criminals. With a crime rate like yours, I wouldn't discount anything.

I have to agree with AlaskanLDS on this one. The wannabe's are often more dangerous than the real thing. They have something to prove and are more unpredictable. A dangerous combination.

I'm sorry maybe I am being typical Trini and not worrying but I really don't think we have to worry about MS-13 gangs here. As I said earlier that gang is made up of Salvadorans, Guatemalans, and Hondurans. We don't have much of those here, in fact I don't know anybody here who comes from those countries. I would think to be a gang you will need quite a few number of people don't you? If the tattoos the inspector saw were the 'devil' tattoos, we have to remember that particular tattoo is not native to MS-13's but to heavy metal fans and that we have a few of here. As I said if the inspector comes up with some hard facts, like pictures or video clips, then I'll consider starting to be concerned. I also saw on another internet site that the MS-13's are moving away from the tattoos too because they were too easily identified by law enforcers. So this also made me think that it's nothing to worry about here.

Well I hope for your countries sake, and your own that you are right. Either way, real or fake, I would not let my guard down so easily.

I read in one of the articles that this gang would move into a new area and wear colors and make their presence known. When the police came after them, they immediately changed their colors but stayed in the area. This doesn't say to me that there is nothing to worry about, but instead, all the more reason to be concerned because they are deliberately trying to deceive law enforcement and becoming less obvious.

Well, I don't really know much about the size of your country but I know that there are not a lot (if any) of these nationalities in Alaska but it says they are here too. I think if they are organized enough you can't stop where they go with today's traveling methods.

I am not disagreeing with your statement about the facts (or lack of) with the case regarding the inspector--just the idea of not being concerned merely because of these ideas. I have five children so I tend to be maybe a little over cautious, but I know your crime rate is exceedingly high.

Having not seen the article, I can only speculate as to what it says. I am concerned about crime here in Trinidad but I have not entered paranoia yet. As I said evidence goes a long way and seeing such will put my mind at ease (or should I say in this case, become concerned).

Oh I wonder if the Trinidad the inspector is talking about is the area north-west in Washington DC or any of the other place named so. Maybe its just wishful thinking.
