Hight Tech Stuff in Religious Services? - Page 2

Wow, that was a really touching story Sky. It's good to know you have a great faith in God because of these things. I love to hear stories of this kind, it makes my heart feel more grateful to Heavenly Father and His great love for each one of us. What most important is that He doesn't make a difference of what religion we are, He see us through our hearts...we are His children. smile.gif
About the piano thing, this Church think is wrong to use it or they just say they don't  because in Jesus's time he didn't use it?. I mean, do they see musical instruments as evil or something?.

DOUG ROBINSON: DRIVE-IN CHURCH FAILING TO FEED THE MASSES
You can get fast food at a drive-in restaurant, have your shirts cleaned at a
drive-in cleaner, get your car washed in a drive-in car wash, see a flick at a
drive-in theater, but who knew you could get your religion at a drive-in
church.

Hight Tech Stuff in Religious Services? Beliefs Religious General

I am all for technology and even music and other stuff in Church. I think it is great. I am not sure it is a good idea to have lots of loud music in your normal services though. I have no problem with it on a reverence basis because I think you can pick and choose at what times it is appropriate, but I think many people would find it offensive. I think it is a great tool for the youth. It really does seem to inspire them. There are many good christian songs that have quite a beat to them. In a service geared to the younger crowd, I would think this a good thing. I see no problem with doing whatever it takes to communicate with your audience. I don't think it matters how you do it so much as to be sure you are delivering the correct message.

In a general meeting though, you need to be sure to keep it at a level that all can find enjoyable.

My Church meetings are pretty tame, and although we do have lots of music, there are only a few select instruments that would be considered appropriate. Piano, flute and violin, for example. Certainly no drums or trumpets. Personally, I would love the drums and trumpets and I don't think it would detract from the Spirit if it was done properly. I think when we have a musical number between speakers it could be included except for the fact that you might offend some, which is why it might not be appropriate in all meetings, but maybe in singles wards or college wards (ward=congregation). I doubt it will happen any time soon though.

Offtopic but,
I have watched the Lakewood services on TV. They are very uplifting and I enjoy them. However, I don't get a lot of meat out of it. But, that is just me.

WIRED FOR PRAYER

Dressed in his embroidered robes, the Rev. Andreas Elime steps from the altar of St. Gabriel's Church and into the view of the Web cams on the church's marble pillars. His voice fills the empty 250-year-old sanctuary with a Greek Orthodox hymn, while a computer on a nearby pew transmits personal blessings to three Americans thousands of miles away.
