One Last Cookie
An elderly man lay alone in his bed, patiently awaiting death. Suddenly, the delightful aroma of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies wafted warmly through the room.
He decided he should have just one more of his wife's extraordinary cookies! Having no way to call to his wife, he determined to go get himself a cookie.
Ever so slowly and painfully, the old man rolled out of bed and landed on the floor. Inch by painful inch, he crawled his way to the top of the stairs and began to snake, roll, and practically fall down the stairs. After a brief rest at the bottom, he crawled ever so slowly toward the kitchen. Once there, he reached his hand up as far as he could to the edge of the counter to get just one more chocolate chip cookie before he died....
"Hey!" shouted his wife, as she slapped his knuckles with a spatula. "You can't eat that! These cookies are for the funeral!"
