Left or Right Handed
A human may be proficient using either their left or right hand when it comes to the most basic actions such as writing, but does this also affect the way their art turns out? Consider hand writing, the curves of each letter is affected by the hand writer being left or right handed. Does it matter when it comes to the finished product - consider: clay molding, painting, pencil art, etc.?
Honestly for clay molding I do not really know. However for paint or pencil the artist hand orientation does make a very large difference in the finished product. Not making one better than the other by any means however each brush stroke is going to angle just as ones hand writing would. This is most apparent when working with a large contrasts of lighting and shading. The stroke of your brush against the canvas portrays a lot about the scene or object you are painting.
I think it interesting to think that the angle of the brush is going to effect the outcome of the image.
I do believe however that the controlling hemisphere of the brain does make a difference, with left handers having a huge advantage when it comes to creative talent. Look through the art history books and the best of the best, at least 90% left handed.
The left brain is related to academic thought and logic, which allows right handed people to paint by numbers, where the right brain fosters creative thoughts, and this assists us left handers to a great degree.
Unfortunately most of us left handers are too busy creating and can't be work out how to finish our works of art, and that is our downfall.
There is one major advantage to being right handed, you can see what your writing whereas if you write with your left hand you cannot see what your writing. If you are stroking the brush from left to right how is that going to be any different to stroking from right to left? I think its not what hand you use its the technique applied. I agree with this quote solely. The hand matters little but the finished project does. The hand does change the angle but trained artist can change that. like leonardo davinci and michelangelo had different styles who says others can't.
