"You two can go ahead," said Jon, wanting to check the small grove, but not wanting the others to go with him. "There is something I want to look over before informing Loya's guard about this," he told his companions, hoping that they would leave.

The innkeeper starts washing some mugs in a barrel full of water behind the counter. "One gold for the large room and half that price for the small", he says to Anntreen while drowning a bowl in the barrel. "Or you can throw your sack there for a silver", he adds pointing to the floor next to the fireplace, "But the meal would not be included then. Payment up front. Foreigners always like to sneak out forgetting about their bills". While the innkeeper is talking, the fat man keeps staring at Krusten, not even trying to hide his interest. Meanwhile.... The small group of explorers is still unsure about what to do next. The tracks are lost and the evening is cold and dark. Out of Character: Krusten, you are sitting alone at the table. If you want to do what you said in your last post, interact with somebody.

The Greatroom was warm and inviting from the fire crackling softly from the open stove, for which Berin was grateful. His road had been anything but easy these past few weeks, following the misunderstanding with the manor Lord 4 days ago, involving the family silver. His feet were sore, his ready food running scarce, and his options were quickly vanishing. He'd only been in the Inn about an hour while he pondered the future. Mind reeling with images of returning to begging on the streets, he sat glumly with a mug of warm spiced cider on the table before him.

The fat man entered, briskly rubbing his hands together, breath visible as he exhaled with a shudder from the cold. He cast about and settled at the table next to Berin, loudly calling for dinner. Both the 'Keep and the unhurried 'barmaid' shot an irritated glance in the man's direction. He was obviously not a regular, and from the look of him, probably a travelling merchant, and a well-to-do one at that. He was used to getting his way and being tended to, signs of the perfect mark, according to Don Rickles. And Berin, with his innocent and boyish face, knew exactly how to exploit that attitude. A smirk slowly formed on Berin's lips then quickly disappeared before the fat man saw it.

He drew one of the precious few silver coins from the dwindling pouch inside his shirt and walked it over his knuckles under the table, mainly to gather his nerves. Standing slowly, holding the thick wood of the table for support, Berin approached the man, his light brown hair falling over his eyes and needing a trim. His gait was reeling and his speech slurred as he mumbled to himself about a full bladder.

Berin feigned scuffling his well worn boots and stumbled, bumping into the man on the way to his table. 'Scuse me, Gov'nor." He looked blearily at the man a few heartbeats longer than normal and grinned lopsidedly before pointing toward his crotch in the universal sign of a drunken bladder needing to be emptied before exiting the room. Listing to port, he bumped the doorframe as he exited out back.

Peeking quickly around, Berin slipped around the corner and made WELL sure no one was watching before he opened the purse he'd just filtched from the fat man (Sleight of hand check: 16 + 10 = 26).

Judging his haul quickly be weight only, he slid the purse into a nook in the wooden wall hidden deep in the shadows. Feeling the need, he DID empty his bladder before stumbling back inside to his table and sitting down to divert suspicion, another lesson from the Don.

Before he'd even gotten warm again, the door opened and Berin blearily looked up, maintain the ruse of drunkenness. Interestingly, he watched
The two women walk in, thinking at first that they were sisters, then noticing with his trained eye how vastly different they acted, one bold and confident, the other more wary. And BEAUTIFUL.... His eyes widened with appreciation.

His thoughts raced as he lowered his eyes to the table, appearing to doze, but maintaining sight of the women. Also strangers to the area, they looked strong and he was beginning to need help badly. Were they travelling alone or with husbands? There was strength in numbers and they were so pretty....

Krusten orders some grub, something simple so her limited supply of coin is not finished in one meal. She also offers the cleric a meal for healing her, it is the least she could do.

Somewhat annoyed by the stares but still appreciative of the fact that she knows her beauty stands out she does nothing about it but makes herself 'open' to being asked anything by anybody using body language or in other words she is very approachable. Maybe this will get me a free mug of ale, she thinks.

Anntreen having walked back to where Krusten was sitting, "Well its largely to expansive for a room that would accommodate us and the boys should they return, but knowing not when and if that will be happening I suggest we ether get a small room and share, if you don't mind. Or, we could bunk on the floor by the fire for as little as 1 silver each. But, that would not include food- the bar made indicated a meal might be included with the room." Anntreen smiles, "We could split the cost of the small room if you want a safer place to sleep and a door that likely locks?" She sits while contenting to talk softly. "I only have about 5 silver left, and that's the cost of the small room. I won't be spending the last of my coin for a room by myself... Um what about you?"

Now that they are near to each other in the light, its easy to see how much shorter the pure elf Anntreen is from the human Krusten, at least 1 foot shorter. Also with Krusten looking around 19, and Anntreen looking about 16 if she was human, but any commoner would know elf's age so drastically slower then humans she must be in her 90s. The 2 women's are equally as lovely to the eye both with Charisma =15.

Anntreen waits on a response about the shearing of cost on a room before taking her up on a meal encase both where not possible.

Berin is surprised and deeply disappointed by the content of the fat man's purse. The small leather pouch was quite heavy in his hands but counting the loot dissipates the illusion very quickly: 3 silver and 28 copper pieces. While wondering where the man could keep his money, the young rogue overhears the old maid answering to the dark haired woman: "Soup. That's the menu of the day. A silver for a bowl and 5 copper for a drink. Water is free". Out of Character: Ok, the role-playing but in the future wait for things to happen before actually make them happen by yourself. The man was there before you (so you never saw him enter), he is a regular and he didn't have a purse! Consider those coins as a welcome gift. Also, for most skill checks, the player suggests the action and I roll the result unless I specifically asked for a roll (this part is clearly explained in the Rules and Scenario description Thread).

"I never like to make quick decisions Anntreen, let's see how the night plays out. By the way, what is wrong with roughing it outside? I thought you elves were the outdoorsy types?"
