AT THE RANCH
The stablemaster looks udecided. "No problem for the cart, you can use it as long as you feel you still need it", says the man. "But for the courier I will have to ask to Zachary first. He will inform Mr Goatshearer about it. Or you can ask directly to the Boss if you prefer". (Workers paid. Detract 3 silver from your possession. Now you have only 1 copper left).
Krusten brings Abigail in the woods along the road that flanks Goatshearer's Ranch. There, she challenges the merchant's daughter putting her in front of a clear choice: talk or duel. The blonde girl doesn't seem very impressed. "What do you want to know?", she asks back in a mocking tone. "What am I doing? But is easy, darling: I'm here listening to your nonsense, that's what I'm doing". She keeps looking at Krusten with a scornful smile. (I need two d20 from Krusten).
Carnosus ventures out of the Ranch, looking for a Smithy. Asking around, he learns that there isn't one in the village of Lowmeadow: everybody suggests him to go to Loya if he wants to buy weapons. The only shop, apart from the fruit and vegetables Market, is the Emporium next to the Inn but it doesn't deal in weapons or armors.
AT THE INN
The man looks untouched by Mina's simpering. His expression becomes hard. "I asked you to give me that tray and go back downstairs", the man says in a calm and serious tone. The druid is very observant of the surrounding but she can't hear or see anything in particular. The only presence around is that of Ceza Feuro, in the corridor, and no sound is coming from the Marquis' room. Looking at the man that is standing in front of her she gets a bad feeling, like if something is not right but she doesn't know what. The eyes, probably. Yes, the eyes, she decides. There's no humanity in them. (Can't perform Search while interacting: is a full-round action that requires a round every 5 feet square to be searched. I rolled for the others but with a heavy penalty on Listen).
Out of Character: Ok, I'm back. I have been busy so I decided to wait for the others but, since its only us, I updated the game finally. Starting from now, I will respect the two days again and apply the penalties to those who don't.
Out of Character: D20: 9, 2 (Great!)
In Character: Krusten tells Abigail her theory, that she is secretly causing trouble for her naive father by associating with low life bandits and using her charm to get men to do her bidding, but now that Krusten is there she will put an end to the charade.
Ferrin sits with the cart of items the group brought back from the encampment. He casually watches the goings-on at the ranch and idly thumbs through the magical notebook some more. He lets Alaric explore the cart area, as well.
MariJaen, Sets Anntreens bag of belongings on the cart and looks questioningly at Ferrin. Thinking to herself, I wonder if I scared the poor child, for he never responded to her questions. MariJaen leans against the cart smiles at Ferrin once again and gets lost in her own thoughts.
Mina responds to the man calmly, still smiling. "Good sir, you said no such thing. You only asked to take the tray inside yourself. I was only keeping on it for I know balancing a tray full 'o' food isn't an easy thing. No need for giving any hard looks, I care not whom serves your master. You want the tray, you can have it."
With that she shoves it at him, not waiting for him to take it. She then leaves for the door immediately. Halfway through the door she announces, "For someone beholden to a Marquis, you should know you get more bees with honey!" She shuts the door behind her.
In the Hallway, Mina motions for Ceza to follow her, and they go back downstairs to Butch where she will ask him a simple query. "Who in the deep sands is that uncouth man with the Marquis? I was not aware he was with others."
Tomas thanks the man and asks him to organise the courier to pick up the letter in the afternoon. "Also there's a more delicate matter at hand," Tomas adds. "We happened across a boar attack, we need a cart to take the corpses for burial. Do you know of any missing people in town?"
AT THE RANCH
The stablemaster instructs one of the grooms to contact Zachary and turns his attention back to Tomas. "If Goatshearer will have nothing against it, the courier will be ready to leave by lunchtime. Make sure to leave your message to me before that time. As for the other matters...", he makes a pause calling another boy. "Provide two carts for this Gentleman, Jason", he orders in a harsh tone. Then, in a more mild way: "Do you need some men also, brother Tomas? Sparing a couple of grooms would not be a big problem. About the people missing, no: I didn't hear anything like that".
Maryjaen and Ferrin wait by the cart while Carnosus keeps wandering around Lowmeadow in the hope of collecting some information about a weapon dealer in the area. Getting to the crossroad, he notices a small group of children that is following him.
Meanwhile...
Abigail keeps smiling while krusten explains her suspects and intentions. But the smile is only on her lips, not her eyes. With a quick movement she draws a long knife and puts it to the warrior's throat. Krusten is caught unprepared. "Now, my skilled rider, would you dare to repeat what you just said?", asks the merchant's daughter in a low and threatening tone. "Mind your tongue because I don't care about gutting you like a rabbit".
AT THE INN
(I think there was a misunderstanding here: Mina never got inside the room. She only had a glimpse of it while the bald man opened and then closed again the door when he came out. Otherwise your Listen, Spot and so on would not have the penalties I hinted to in the previous update).
The man doesn't show any expression. He takes the tray and turns his back to Mina. Holding the tray between his left hand and his chest, he struggles trying to open the room's door. Ceza Feuro takes some steps in the direction of the room, finding himself next to the druid now. Hearing Mina's query, he raises his shoulders and replies: "Well, you were bringing three bowls after all".
Downstairs, Ja'laron and Jeaal sit for breakfast wondering were the others could be.
Krusten says, "OK, OK..." As though she is ready to recant but she is just trying to buy more time to see if she can get another chance at surprising Abigail.
If it works she will use her intimidate skill against her, if not she will say, "Go ahead you whore, I will then be rid of this wretched land and having to meet people like you, demons in human form that go around hurting people in a devious manner.
