"Felnuus bless us. Thank you kind soul." Tomas breaks off a leg of the hare and munches upon it. Looking back up, he swallows his meal politely before answering. "Please excuse my manners. We were just following tracks along this road, but they are for certain washed away now. We should have no trouble reaching the main road, and from there, Loya is our destination."
Tomas can see that Faruq is a man of the wilds and makes no suggestion that he should join them, but will not oppose Faruq if he does.
"It should be safe to approach!" Tomas calls out to the other party members, seeing as his signal went unheeded.
The call of the frogs, celebrating the rainy night, and the sound of the unceasing rain cover your words, forcing you to shout to be heard. The unkind weather starts to ask for its toll, you all shiver in the cold night and feel the need of a warm fire and some rest. The small group of explorers is not left with many options: thick clouds already cover the sky, like a curtain obscuring the celestial window, and the plains all around you appear like a hazy realm of shadows. Soon, it will be impossible to find the way back and proceeding onwards is already a risky task. Is time to choose: set camp under the freezing rain, haste back to the main road or venture into the unknown....
"This night only grows more miserable!" Faruq shouts. "Making a fire will be near impossible! Let us make haste back to the road!" Faruq gestures to the southeast. "There is a small town where we can seek shelter!"
A roof sounded just fine, even to Faruq who usually despised the notion of four walls. Had he become soft since he left the desert? Or was this night just that bad?
He added, "That is, if I can join your party, at least for the next few hours!"
Faruq prepares to head towards town if the others agree. Edited: Tonatha on 30th Dec, 2012 - 5:27pm
Ferrin looks as though he is blabbering and introducing himself as he steps out from behind Tomas, but his small voice cannot he heard over the loudness of the night. His speech is accompanied by grandiose flourishes of the hands and relatively large, sweeping arm movements for one so small. At the multiple suggestive gestures pointing back toward the road and the village, he hops up and down excitedly and nods his head in vigorous agreement.
The group tries to find the way to the main road. Cloaks and hoods are not enough to protect the small party from the wind and the cold winter rain. The damp terrain hinders their movements and the clothes, already soaked and heavy, are like a cold layer covering the skin. After what seems an endless pilgrimage in the darkness, Jonathan recognizes the point in which he and his companions first lost the tracks and, from there, becomes easy finding the Southern Road.
The four keep walking pushed by their will, step after step, withstanding the elements. Is an endless march: the stone paved road acts as a rail, keeping the group on the right direction in the now moonless night. After what looks like an ethernity, a dim, faint light is spotted in the distance guiding the group to a shut wooden door. Tomas takes the initiative, knocking heavily on the entrance to the inn. He needs to do it for three or four times before a sleepy, rough, man finally opens the door, confronting the travelers with a brief and annoyed question: "Who's there?", he asks, surprised by the rundown aspect of his nightly visitors. His eyes examine the four travelers one by one. After a moment, he decides for some reason that no harm can be done by the newcomers and allows the group in the dinner room. "No rooms at this ghostly hour", he declares without allowing a reply, "Sleeping by the hearth costs one silver each. Pay me now and let me go back to sleep".
With a tired expression on his large face, he collects the money and leaves the group alone in front of the dying fire.
Out of Character: I decided to cut short to speed up things and because I thought there was nothing else the group wanted to do before going to sleep. Feel free to role-play and even interrupt these events if you want to do something before sleeping. All of you subtract 1 silver piece. I will update the game again as soon as possible (I could be very busy tomorrow and on the 1st of January but I will try to be active if I can).
Out of character: Thank you! If he had known "Endure Elements", Ferrin may have cast that. Otherwise, he's too tired to protest much of anything. I think we're all anxious to come together again as one group and move forward in the story. At least, I know I am.
