You are brought to a large common room where the servants and the workers are already starting to sit, ready for lunch. The meal mainly consists of fresh bread, boiled vegetables and something similar to porridge, called "White Food", tipical of the rural areas of the Empire. Those born in Soria know it very well and explain to the rest of the group that is made with stale bread, the rests of fruits and vegetables from the previous days, goat milk and, sometimes, few chunks of meat. The lunch is a nice occasion to refresh yourselves, joking with the kids and chatting with Zak and the other commoners you met on the Southern Road the day before. You also update your companions on what was said during the meeting in the mansion.
After eating, Tomas is invited by Zachary to a small shrine where, he explains, some of the peasants decided to set up a place of worship for Felnuus. Tomas' proselitism had a positive effect and the workers are spreading the word to their companions. They ask the paladin's guidance for the project of the new shrine.
Krusten heads to the stables where Abigail is already waiting for her date. The young girl is now dressed in a leather rider's outfit that designs the forms of her body. Krusten is offered a first quality stead and, as soon as she is on the saddle, the two go on the ride, followed closely by a small group of mounted servants. Apparently, old Goatshearer gave detailed instructions about how much intimate the two girls are allowed to become. After several minutes, spent mainly in chit chat and trivialities, Abigail gives a sudden acceleration to her horse while shouting "Follow me". The two riders, now launched in a crazy gallop, head towards a small orchard and jump at high speed in the middle of the dense trees.
Krusten has to ROLL ON RIDE to avoid falling from her horse.
At the inn:
"Oh, I deal in the most valuable goods for a place like this: tools! Hammers, picks, spades and scythes. The metal, of course! They can make the wooden handles by themselves", explains Murno while an old barmaid approaches the table in a lazy fashion. "I don't know the reason of this delay but it doesn't please me. Not at all! I only hope...". Mr Murno can't finish his sentence, interrupted by a big commotion coming from outside. The innkeeper runs from behind the counter and opens the front door while the old woman stops in astonishment. Ja'laron hears stirred voices and the sound of running feet.
At some point while they eat lunch, Anntreen asks the kids about what they recall of the attack by the dogs out on the road.
If they do not wish to talk about it she lets it go and then find a way to change the subject to something bright and happy telling story's of her 2 younger half sisters back home, getting stuck int he mud one day or something of the like.
If they are willing to briefly talk about it, her attempt to gather information is focused around the blanket in the cart, that in the course of the battle went form covering the body, to protecting the kids.
She wants to see if the boys moved it or if her gut feeling can be confirmed, that her goddess answered her beseech request for there protection, she made at the start of battle.
In Character: Krusten can't believe this sudden reaction from the 'delicate' looking Abigail.
Out of Character: I wasn't sure which dice you wanted (you're supposed to hint to me ) so I put a d20 and d10:
D20: 19
D10: 10
I didn't add any modifiers.
Throughout the day's events, Ferrin is a bit anxious and unable to sit still (until the food comes, of course). At the manor house, he walks around the room and peers out the windows, surveying the landscape. While waiting for the negotiations to conclude, he will fill empty spaces in conversation by asking Mina and Faruq about the "Sea of Sands" and trying to find comparison to the waters surrounding the Thousand Islands from which he hails.
When called a Dwarf (and then an "Allpling") by the children, he responds with his typical, childish indignance, "I's a HALFling, childrens! My families makes great ships, not great holes in the grounds! And I haves no beards, eithers." He sticks his chin up in the air for the children to see that there is nothing growing beneath it, since they are likely taller than him, anyway. At the mention of food, Ferrin ceases any unrelated conversation, "Yes! To lunches! We must eats to fill our bellies for Justices! We cannot fights Bandits with no energies." He marches off in the general direction that was indicated for food. At the table, he will chat with the children and the commoners regarding whatever knowledge they have about the local banditry and the pattern of missing goods (Gather Information if there is enough time or possibly Sense Motive to gauge the truthfulness of their responses?) while eating a good helping of the fare provided.
Mina hears Tomas's response to Anntreens whispered question, and makes a mental note to ask her about it during the meal. Though as they move on, she ponders if this was something said with Goatshearer, or was it with the children.
