Dungeons & Dragons 3.5 A Crone, A Marquis & Missing Medallion RPG - Page 57

As Mina hears the meeting progress into people taking their leave, Mina decides to go as well.
As she leaves, she tells the others, "I'll go off now to attempt to discern the mind of this Abigail. Hopefully, I will come back with an idea of her loyalties."

Mina leaves the Mansion to look for the woman Abigail.

Mina is taken by the butler to a room on the second floor, on the same side of the gallery where the small parlour and the first meeting room were. Abigail is waiting in a small studio, all decorated with finely engraved wooden panels at its walls and a large red carpet on the floor. Books are shelved in small bookcases, along the eastern and western wall, and a large table with four big armchairs serves as a comfortable reading position. On the northern wall, opposite to the entrance, is a cosy fireplace.
The merchant daughter is waiting between the table and the door, like to make it clear that the meeting will be a short one. After Mina gets into the room, the girl closes the door and introduces herself to the druid. "I'm Abigail Goatshearer, daughter of Simon Goatshearer", she says in a serious fashion, starting to walk up and down the room: an habit, this one, that she seems have inherited from her father. "I didn't see you during our first conversation with Brother Tomas and his friends. Tell me, are you a kind of hermit or something? Your appearence attracted my curiosity: I tend to feel an interest on how other women, different from me, live and think. But, now that I see you better, you look quite weird. I'm not even sure where a strange person like you would sleep at night: do you have a room at the inn or you sleep in the wild?".
Abigail alternates her questions with childish laughters, stressing the final words of each sentence and speaking in a high tone, a little bit too high, like if she is playing a comedy for somebody else. Without waiting for your answer, she rushes at the door and opens it all of a sudden. You can see the butler's face just in front of the entrance: the man keeps walking along the ornated gallery, with nonchalance, like if busy with some trivial but necessary task. Abigail looks at Mina with an accomplice attitude. Her deep, blue eyes, contrast with her childish ways. In the same tone as before she concludes: "Well, I already lost interest in this meeting, I don't know what I expected from it. Nice to meet you". The young woman offers you her hand, ready to bid you farewell.

Simon Goatshearer had already retired in the room where the first meeting with the party took place. Seeing Anntreen escorted by one of the servants, he stands up from his chair by the fireplace and invites the priestess inside. "Can I help you in some way Miss Anntin?", he asks in a formal way, inviting the cleric to sit down with a gesture of his hand. After listening to the request of horses to speed up the party he answers: "I don't see how this could be of any help, Milady. The assault took place less than two hours walk from here and, if you plan to inspect the village, you can walk up and down it three or four times in an hour. What do you need the horses for?"

Krusten gets outside the mansion and, to her disappointment, doesn't find any horse waiting at the entrance. A quick walk around the building reveals four large windows on the front side, two and two on both sides, and other four on the back side. All the windows are shielded by thick curtains. Krusten judges the back side the best for eavesdropping: she could easily hide between the tall fence of bushes that runs along the back wall. She would be still visible from the second floor though. What do you want to do?

She takes the seat offered and smiles sweetly at the kind gesture.

"I know the attack this last day took place near the town, but the attack a couple of days before was much farther form the town. Its my theory that the thieves may have there base of orations somewhere between. I simply thought we could cover more ground souled there encampment be feather from town then you perceive it to be sir." She smiles calmly at Mr. Goatshearer.

"Also Sir I mean no offense, but I believe you where given pore information as to my name. It is Anntreen, not Anntin."

Her soft words seem to reflect she has taken no offense and understands where it is he is coming form.

Krusten doesn't care about the chance of being caught, in fact she has already worked out in her mind that if she were caught she would simply say, "Nature calls... And I thought I heard someone calling me from here". She goes to find a vantage point for listening.

Goatshearer looks more embarassed than offended by Anntreen's remark. "My apologies, Miss", he says looking a little bit unease, "I'll not mispell Your name again. Talking about Your request, Lady Anntreen, is true that Your group could benefit from increased mobility. But I'm trying to keep this mission on an unofficial level, even if looks like this aspect hasn't been made clear enough judging from how the details are being freely discussed in public places. Moreover, searching the surroundings without a hint on where to go requires time, which we don't have. I lose money at every passing hour". The merchant pauses for a moment, lost in thoughts, then he concludes: "I need to think and to talk to...somebody. Please, visit me again tomorrow morning. It can also be a good chance to check on those children, which seems are dear to You". Out of Character: Krusten roll on listen and let me know where you want to position yourself.

Tomas had said he'll be waiting for all but Jon and Ja'laron near gate, where he has left his bags, but has gone over to the shrine he was planning earlier. Putting on the finishing touches, he instructs a person (or writes them down) to cut out the arch and engrave the symbol. He instructs them to excel at their trade, and pray weekly. Every few seconds he looks to the gate to see if everyone has gathered.

Ferrin will waste little time in bounding to the gate, anxiously awaiting the others and swinging his quarterstaff about, fighting off imaginary bandits. He does first swing by the common room where they ate before to see if there are any leftovers, though.

Out of Character Krusten will position herself by any window she hears talking, if she hears nothing she will move on to the next window. She will not listen at a window that is so obvious that she will be spotted right away.

Listen: 16

Rather off topic, but...
This time I looked it up and got the info on listening from here, Source 9 my wisdom isn't high so no bonuses.
