Faruq stands, puts away his whetstone and resheathes his sword before putting his backpack on. Finally, he picks up his shield and responds to Anntreen, "Sounds like a good idea. I will accompany you." Edited: Tonatha on 17th Jan, 2013 - 7:42pm
She will double check the location of where the attack was with one of the servants before the group heads out, she will also be leaving some of her gear such as her bedroll at the estate.
But, she to is very ready to hit the road and take a look at the latest attack sight.
After reading the message, Mina folds the paper and re-pockets it. She looks around to make sure no one had followed her, and she leaves her secluded spot. She then goes off to look for the others of her group.
(Out of Character: If needed when she looked for others; Spot check 11+7=18)
Krusten goes back outside and rejoins the group. Later she will go to the servants quarters and privately ask her about Abigail and the relationship of her father. Also about anything suspicious. If she is not giving information she will use her intimidation to insist about how dreadful it will be for everyone if something sinister continues.
Tomas takes the front of the group and, after recieving direction from Anntreen, leads them to the site.
Out of Character: the group is everypne besides Jon and Ja'laron and maybe Kursten. Tomas will not wait for too long for Kursten, half an hour tops.
Anntreen asks around about directions and joins the group. Being instructed to follow the Southern Road west, towards Loya, Tomas, that stocked on rations, Mina, Anntreen, Ferrin and Faruq (maybe also Krusten) head that way. The sky is still cloudy but there's no wind and doesn't rain since last night. The group reaches the location when is still early in the afternoon. There's no space for any doubt: the road is covered in blood and the bodies of five commoners lay on the cold stone. The smell of fresh blood hits your nose. Looks like anything have been changed since the time of the attack, few hours before, but the group knows that there's not too much time: when the daylight will start to fade, corpse eaters and savage beasts will probably find the courage to get out in the open. Something strikes you since the very moment in which you reach the scene. Unlike the first attack, this one took place in a site that doesn't look strategic at all. Only few bushes flank the large road and the plain looks flat and empty for miles around.
At the mansion:
Jonathan follows Zachary, the supervisor, trying to remain unseen. The man looks busy organizing something, probably the expedition to recover the bodies of the dead commoners. He walks up and down the estate giving orders and looking for people. Finally, Zak heads to the stables where Jon sees his new companion, Ja'laron, busy in a long conversation with the workers. The ranger's suspects prove to be right when a small group of peasants leave the stables guiding two wooden carts pulled by mules. At the head of the group, two of the commoners he met few hours before by the main gate. The third is also present, but looks like he is more interested in what Ja'laron and the quartermaster are saying.
Ja'laron already spent some time gathering information from the hostlers. His tactic looks to be the right one: pretending to be involved in a casual conversation kept off the peasants' suspicions and provided him with a lot of details (I will make a complete report of what you learnt at the end of the afternoon, I think is better if I give the info all together rather than breaking them in two or three posts. More clear for you also). After some time, a group of workers reach the stables and gets ready to leave with two empty mulecarts. One of them, apparently one of the survivors from the morning assault, sits on a barrel just outside the stables and starts smoking some dried tobacco leaves with an empty expression on his face.
Tomas, having not been traind specifically in tracking, knows from his battle theory tactics of larger groups. The brazen attack here is proof that the group has evolved past guerrilla tactics, but this means large troop movements are more predictable. He communicates his concern that this may be a large group to the party. Nontheless he will give a try in tracking.
Faruq is concerned this group of bandits might have left some scouts behind. Though they would need to be quite a few in number to pose a real threat, Faruq spots in the bushes for any signs of movement that might detect an ambush. Edited: Tonatha on 18th Jan, 2013 - 6:05pm
