At the ranch:

FoxRogue.
After giving the final instructions to the group in charge of recovering the corpses, Zachary, the supervisor, slowly walks back to the workers house, unawere of the shadow that is following him. Jonathan Shadowleaf notices that the workers accomodation is very close to the servants house, where his companions had lunch few hours before. Zachary enters the building, while Jon observes him from behind a corner.

Sgtlee.
The commoner slowly turns to look at the newcomer, annoyed by this unexpected interruption of his smoking time. He looks at Ja'laron with an empty expression, then concentrates again on his tobacco roll like if nothing happened and nobody asked him any question. The Stablemaster approaches the rogue with a smile. "You are wasting your time, my friend", he says. "You can't get him to start a conversation".
The man, one of the best sources of informations for Ja'laron until now, talks about the strange peasant like if this one was not present. "People calls him Rusty. Because is like something got rusty inside his head", he explains while laughing and moving a finger in small circles next to his temple. "He never talks and he has no friends. Except for the two guys that you saw leaving with the carts before, the other two survivors of the assault, Slim and Bullneck".

Krusten.
Krusten spends some time examining the activity in the ranch. Most of the commoners are not working, following the two days off granted by Goatshearer after the last attack. Only in the northern side of the estate there is some activity: people head in that direction bringing wooden coffins and religious apparels, probably getting ready for the burial when the corpses of the victims will be brought back. She doesn't see Goatshearer or his daughter anywhere around. Maybe they are still inside the mansion. The warrior spots some movement next to the stables also.

Krusten shifts her observations to where there is activity and will ask lose questions about the owner and his daughter, Abigail to see if she can find out anything more such as if he pays good, how he treats his workers, if they noticed anything unusual, etc.

"I say we go north. See what we can scout out about their stronghold and how many bandits we're dealing with."

Ja'laron looks at the man who is smoking and back at the stablemaster.

Has he always been like this? Or is this recent?

He looks at Rusty, "Why didn't you go to help recover the bodies of your friends?"

Ja'laron makes sure to pay close attention to Rusty's body, bloody boots, defensive wounds on his hands, anything that seems out of place on the young man.

At the Ranch:

Sgtlee.
The strange commoner keeps smoking, ignoring Ja'laron question. He doesn't seem to have any visible wound and the thick dirt that encloses the bottom part of his boots could come from anywhere: the plains as well as the ranch.
The Stablemaster slowly shakes is head. "Is not long since he arrived", he says, "He met Slim on the Southern Road few months ago, on the way back after a shipment to Loya. He was starving and in bad shape. Somebody must have hit him on the head, he had a bad wound just over the left temple, but we don't know if he became like this because of that or if he was born stupid. Slim looks like a bully but is a good guy after all. Him and his best friend, Bullneck, took care of this fellow protecting him from the jokes and tricks of the other peasants. Is very rare to see this guy far from his guardian angels. He doesn't talk, so is not easy to guess his thoughts or feelings, if any. Maybe he was not so indifferent to what happened this morning and doesn't want to go back with the others. Who knows...".

Krusten.
Krusten follows the peasants to the northern portion of Goatshearer's ranch. Some of the workers are preparing the burial ceremony for the fallen companions. The warrior sees a fenced area that is evidently used as a burial ground: several small barrows are lined vertically, from west to east, each of them identified by a raw tombstone. Not far from the small graveyard, five large white shrouds have been put on the ground. Between them, the same number of wooden bowls containing a mix of soil and crumbled leaves.
Krusten engages some of the workers in a casual conversation but can't learn much. Apparently, both Goatshearer and his daughter are quite popular between the folks. No major complaints come from the commoners, except for some worries about the recent events and the sorrow for the dead friends.

On the Southern Road:
The rest of the party tries to figure out a trail out of the many marks left on the ground both by the assaliants and their victims. The wheel tracks leading to the north are visible only for few hundred meters, after that they are covered by the grass. To the south is even worse: after some time you come to think that the tracks leading in that direction may be only a decoy since they vanish and seem to go back towards the main Road.
After spending some time searching, you spot a small group of men walking from the east on the side of two empty mulecarts. Is not hard to guess who they are and what is their mission.

Tomas quickly turns to the party. "We must try and avoid bloodshed. But I fear for the worst. I believe we should give them an escape route, that way we will have more tracks. Of course we may need an escape route ourselves."

Tomas will raise his shield, but lean on his javelin non-threateningly. He attempts to count how many people are approaching.

Ja'laron thinks to himself for a second, tapping his pipe on his lip. He looks at stablemaster, "This maybe something the cleric or paladin can look at. It maybe to late to help but who knows."

"But thank you, it would have been sad I was starting to think I needed to wash and he was afraid that if he talked to me I would linger longer."

"By the way what did you guys lose in the shipments?"
