VP Power Rankings: Tim Kaine tops the list for Clinton's running mate

Once she locks down the Democratic presidential nomination, Hillary Clinton faces the daunting task of mobilizing progressive activists and outsiders who backed Bernie Sanders as well as the black and Hispanic voters she relied on to beat him. But our panel of Power Rankings experts thinks her most likely vice presidential pick is Tim Kaine, the moderate Virginia senator and former governor who is the consummate party insider, having once served as Democratic National Committee chairman. Debbie Wasserman Schultz is stepping down as chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee at the end of the party's convention, which is set to begin here Monday.

The Florida congresswoman's resignation -- under pressure from top Democrats -- comes amid hackers' release of emails that show DNC staffers favoring Hillary Clinton over Bernie Sanders in the party's 2016 nominating contest.

Wasserman Schultz announced her resignation in a statement Sunday afternoon, saying she remains committed to seeing Clinton elected president.

"Going forward, the best way for me to accomplish those goals is to step down as Party Chair at the end of this convention," Wasserman Schultz said in her statement. Ref. CNN.

A meeting of Florida Democratic delegates descended into chaos when outgoing Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz took the stage today.

In the middle of her speech in Philadelphia, angry attendees began to chant, "Shame! Shame! Shame!"

Wasserman Schultz announced she would resign at the end of the Democratic National Convention, following the leak of emails that showed the party favoring presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton over primary opponent Bernie Sanders.

"We know that the voices in this room that are standing up and being disruptive, we know that is not the Florida that we know,” said Wasserman Schultz, who quickly exited after brief remarks. Ref. CNN.

Trump’s Speech Wasn’t ‘Dark’ Enough

One of the many remarkable traits of the progressives is their lack of self-awareness. This trait was on display last week in the media and Democratic Party’s characterization of Donald Trump’s acceptance speech — and the entire Republican National Convention — as “dark.” For the left to dismiss other Americans as having a dark view of America is preposterous. Because no one — not Trump, not the Republican Party, not any conservative — has nearly as dark a view of America as does the left. Across the board — from the universities to the… Ref. Source 3r.

The FBI and Justice Department are investigating a possible computer hack of the Clinton campaign in addition to its examination of intrusions of other Democratic Party organizations, two law enforcement officials said Friday.

An intrusion was discovered by private investigators hired by the campaign, according to one of the law enforcement officials. The private investigators believe it is similar to the Democratic National Committee hack.

A system breach at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is also under investigation. Ref. CNN.

Democrats For 2016

The CEO of the Democratic National Committee will resign today in the wake of the committee's hacked email scandal.

Amy Dacey is the highest-ranking official at the DNC to step aside due to the controversy, a senior Democratic official said, but is not the only one. The official did not provide further details.

Dacey is well-respected by Hillary Clinton's campaign and the DNC circle, a source familiar with the resignation said.

The committee is looking to clean house in the wake of leaked emails that appeared to show the committee favoring Clinton over Bernie Sanders during the primary.

Former DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz resigned after the party's convention last week as a result of the revelations. Ref. CNN.
