While gold more than silver will always has a good value as money I think the really important commodity of the future will be water. Remember the Mad Max movie? Its not going to be far from that in 50 years with droughts occurring often and everywhere in the world is becoming more hot than the previous year. When you need water gold is meaningless unless that gold can buy you a lot of water but if the water's value is greater you aren't going to get much of it.
