I would like to know more about these things. Would you mind to share where can I find information available? You seem to be sure is around October General Conference, why October particularly?.

I am going to take this to the topic about the Second Coming.

Conference General

I was looking forward to hearing it broadcasted over the internet only to be disappointed at the fact that they will not be doing that - I wonder why? I hope they will at least have text version right after, but if there is anything significant please let me know about it.

Well, two new Apostles were called. The two new apostles are a native German, Dieter F. Uchtdorf, and an educator, David A. Bednar, currently president of Brigham Young University-Idaho...

Is interesting to notice that Elder David A. Bednar was never part of the First or Second Quorum of the Seventy as most Apostles were. He has served as bishop of the Fayetteville Ward (1987), president of the Fort Smith Arkansas Stake (1987-1991), president of the Rogers Arkansas Stake (1991-1995), Regional Representative (1994-1995), Area Authority (1995-1997), and Area Authority Seventy (1997-present).

What is it that they are not broadcasting? The conference itself is being broadcast. That is how I heard it...over the internet. The Priesthood session won't be, but I don't think it has been in years past either.

I just enjoy listening to our leaders speak. I don't care what they decide to say, it always impacts me personally somehow. I think we don't hear a lot about the signs of the second coming in conference because the purpose of conference is for us to receive counsel and teachings regarding how we should live our lives. The actual doctrinal stuff is more appropriately shared at the ward level. I think Stake conferences also are more for instructing us on how to be better latter-day saints rather than doctrine.

Yes, I remember listening the Priesthood session through the internet before.

I do not understand what you mean. The purpose of hearing about the signs of the second coming in my humble opinion is for the main purpose to prepare ourselves....to be aware and find out how near the Second Coming really is. I do not see anything wholy doctrinal about this, it is something that the leaders speak constantly, I think JB was trying to pointed out that is something he has not heard recently.

Yes, I was talking about the Priesthood session. I am surprised about someone being called from outside of the Seventy. I am happy for Elder Uchtdorf who always captured my ear when he talked with that heavy accent. I do wonder if we are to 'make' anything out of him being called?

Yes, this is true, but I don't think it is the purpose of the conferences. This, to me, seems better coming from our branches and wards. I believe the conference is more for the general authorities to counsel us in more specific ways about how we should live our lives so that we are better saints individually. At least in my limited experience that seems to be what I have noticed in conferences. A business meeting, a "state of the Church" meeting, and a "counsel on how to be be better saints meeting."

Incidently, I believe, even if they don't mention the signs of the second coming, they are preparing us or helping us become prepared, by counseling us on the specific things of which they speak even if they don't specifically mention the signs of the second coming.

I'm very much looking forward to hearing our two new Apostles speak. Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf is the first foreign-born apostle called since Marion G. Romney in 1951!

Yesterday, I particularly enjoyed the words given in regard to Peace of Conscience. Excellent. And the music, as usual, is so amazing!
