Police officer shot in Ferguson protests
A University City police officer was shot during violent protests that erupted in Ferguson, Mo. After it was announced that Officer Darren Wilson was not indicted on any charges related to the Aug. 9 fatal shooting of Michael Brown, an unarmed 18-year-old black man. A U.S. Justice Department civil rights probe has concluded that the police department of Ferguson, Missouri, and the city's municipal court engaged in a "Pattern and practice" Of discrimination against African-Americans, according to a U.S. Law enforcement official briefed on the investigation.
The probe found that African-Americans were targeted disproportionately for traffic stops, use of force and jail sentences.
