In the simplest of terms they both use different hardware and software settings that are incompatible except through something called an 'emulator'. Most people use Macs for graphics (not me) and IBM and the compatibles (which dominate the market) for everything else.

Basically MAC's suck and PC's suck less tongue.gif But seriously, its has to do with the Operating System and Hardware that each one utilizes. The MAC OS only allows for MAC based applications to run and MAC based hardware to be used. Same for the PC where Windows is the dominant OS. MAC's tend to have a religious following, and they also appeal to the younger generation with their cool applications.

In the end, it comes down to personal preference, speed and performance wise, they are about equal, and will always remain so - most applications are cross-platform too - I use Macs because I like the interface, and the 'feel' of the machine. Windows machines do the job, and are functional, but Macs tend to do the same things with a little more style. Apple is very much about style nowadays wink.gif

For future reference, Mac should not be capitalised, it is short for Macintosh. MAC (all caps) is something else entirely - it is a number that is unique to every computer you can network, and it stands for "Media Access Control"

I guess this thread is near it's end. Now that Mac OS X will run on an Intel processor rather than require a Motorola processor I feel the similarities are going to vastly increase. But in the end I guess Mac OS will always have a little more style than Windows even if Microsoft keeps going at the rate they are now.
