For this year 2019, mother's day will be officially celebrated in May 12th; the second Sunday. Usually gifts can involve simple flowers to different kinds of technology such as phones.
Interestingly enough, I did some research and according to some Dominican people they complained about the western influence over the island regarding Mother's day. Back in history, the Dominican people never celebrated this event - since they loved their mothers everyday.
