Politically Correct - Page 5

Why is it that I call American minority groups by specific tags? Why is a Black person African American? Why is an Asian person Asian America? Is there something wrong with them?

No I get that the Majority is always the "Default" and that every minority is the "Other kind". Which is horrible because it's basically calling white people actual Americans, and the others are the inferior Americans. Also, I cannot be a nurse, I have to be a "Male Nurse". undecided.gif

Correct Politically

Being politically correct can have its place but what gets to me are the people who try to be politically correct with one thing and then destroy many others for it to benefit one or two people.

Bus Driver Tells Kid With Romney Sign: You Should Have Been Aborted
A bus driver recently told a 12 year-old boy who was riding the bus he should have been aborted.

The boy's parents have a "Romney/Ryan" sign in their front yard and the bus driver seemed to have a problem with it. When the bus driver engaged the young boy into a political conversation the boy told the bus driver that Obama was pro-abortion. Ref. Source 4

Aberrations of the politically correctness: My native language (italian) is a direct derivation of ancient latin. For more than 2000 years we used the word "Negro", modern version of the word "Niger" (subject) or "Nigrum" (object), to indicate a colored person. Suddenly, in the early 90's that became rude and offensive mainly because "Negro" (dark skinned person) was used in movies as the translation of the american "Nigger". Since then, the only polite word is "Nero", black (what's the difference? They only took off a g and the root word is the same). So, now an african is black but an asian isn't yellow. And never ask an african where he comes from because it would be an insult spelling the name Nigeria. Sorry, I'll get offense if you call me white: now I'm pink!

Since when is being called "beautiful" offensive?

Since when is calling a woman beautiful taking things too far? I think it's absolutely ridiculous. Ref. Source 9

Politically Correct

I agree with you JB that's just the biological fact, we are not born equal due to the adaptation and probably genetic difference. though this is more in the western or first world problem side to me, which I think also the incompatibility the English language for the case, what they should enforce are stopping the real treat such as clear harassment and real attack in general, but of course people will find the loophole.
